After struggling to adjust the tension in my longarm, I purchased the TOWA bobbin tension gauge which was recommended by another quilter. The directions on how to use it were clear, but not on how to read it. I have been a garment sewist for over 55 years. I started quilting a few years ago and invested in a long arm quilting machine. I wanted to make sure I had the proper equipment because fabric is so expensive now days, so I purchased the TOWA. All I can say is that I cannot believe I sewed all these years without a TOWA. Takes all the guess work out of bobbin tension and you will perfect stitches every time. Love, love, love it. Will never use another bobbin without testing my tension first. I highly recommend getting one.

This item was delivered in a timely manner. I was having some tension issues with my new sewing machine. This tension gauge worked very well. In just a minute or two I was able to check my bobbin tension, which was low. It was very easy to then tighten the bobbin tension and then I tweaked the top tension a tad. Now the stitches are beautiful.

This device will help cure your tension issues with your longarm. Once you find out your tension guage for your thread, (I love - and so does my longarm, Superior threads like Omni, work best at tension guage 170 to 200. ) once I adjust my bobbin tension with this guage it is then a simple adjustment for your top thread. Your bobbin tension is your foundation and once I get that right, for the most part it stays right. I personally like Omni on the top spool and So Fine for my bobbin thread. Both threads like a guage of 170 to 200. Once they are set I get a perfect top and bottom stitch. Yeah!
