I ordered this moss to put over the soil on some of my houseplants. It gives it that nice finishing touch and helps them retain moisture. The package came vacuum sealed, so the moss inside is very compacted, but also seems fresh. It fluffs up nicely when pulled out of the package. It is a nice dark green color, and it has a nice earthy smell. This is real, preserved moss. The product page information is confusing. It really should be corrected. It states under "material" that the item is "plastic", and it is called "artificial and "faux". However, in the bullet points of the description it says: "It is from real dried green moss." So, which is it?? Perhaps for importation purposes they are stating that it is "faux" moss. (?) The retail price of this item at the time of review is $7.19. (That is the Black Friday price. The typical price is $8.99.) This seems quite spendy for a few ounces of dried moss. However, this moss is nice and green, and not brittle. It also has a nice smell. You can get cheap moss at the dollar store, but it will be yellowish and much more dry. If you want fresher, greener moss, you might want to try this one instead. I gave this item 4 stars because the product page information is very confusing, and the price is a little high for what you get.

This is nice moss but not quite what I was expecting. I was expecting something with much more volume to it to fill up a pot that has an artificial fiddle fig plant in it. This moss is nice with a soft texture and I can see other uses for it like around the base of a bonsai or even some succulents to give a contrast to the desert look of a cactus. Nice color to it as well. You can tell it’s not artificial but is a dried moss.

This is your florist quality preserved moss. Fresh and green looking it is perfect for use as a cover in an artificial plant. The moss is not brittle or dry; it feels flexible and moist although that is a product of the preservation. It is easy to work with and there is more than you might think. It can be spread thinly to give lots of cover. I ordered the 3.5 Oz package as I had no idea of the coverage. This could easily have covered two 6-8 inch pots with good coverage. I put it all in one 8 inch pot and had a very dense layer – looks great though. My photo shows the bag on arrival and when opened and spread out kind of medium thickly it doubled the area.

I was afraid to touch it when I first opened the vacuum sealed bag. But there was no smell and it was dry! Moss - huh? This is really brittle or should I say flakey. It was hard to get clumps of the moss to place in the planter, but I did get sheets. It actually peeled away into sheet, guess that's how they formed it in the bags. It's not exactly what I expected, but it did fill out the planter and cover the filler I had in there.

I will be using this in my outdoor fairy gardens next summer. To me it is pricey, but in comparing it to others, it seemed to be in the ballpark. Note that this 3.5 oz size is currently $7.99, but you can get the 4.1 oz size for $7.19.

This is an excellent value for faux moss. I used this in a large planter in my front yard that has live plants in the summer. Now that those live flowers had died, I replaced them with artificial foliage, and this moss is a great complement to that arrangement. It looks real and is easy to use. I highly recommend this as an accent in your artificial plants.
