This was my go to perfume 20+ years ago. When it first arrived I was so excited. I spritzed a little on my wrist and got very nervous. At first it smelled strongly of alcohol, like an old perfume that has gone bad. I was a little disappointed but then I noticed that as a couple minutes went by it had softened into the old familiar scent i loved so long ago. It still has the lasting power it used to, a little definitely goes a long way. Excited to wear it again.

I am not a light and flowery, sporty, or green/leafy scent type of woman, never have been. I love spicy scents! I started wearing Poison in college when it came out. I loved the spiciness and the mystery of it. It was my go to scent. Just as a reference, I have also worn Emeraude (it has top notes of fruit but there's rose, ylang-ylang, patchouli, and vanilla in there--- oooh mysterious!), Avon's Rare Rubies, and the OG Caroline Herrera. That's it. I mixed them it up every now and then just to keep people guessing. I was so upset when I couldn't find Poison anymore then Avon stopped making Rare Rubies, I don't like YSL's Opium and for whatever reason Estes Leader's Cinnabar just didn't do it for me. Then Carolina Herrera had some sort of brain cramp and just deformed (yes, I mean de-formed!) her scent. WTH people???? Thank goodness Emeraude has been around for donkey's years and wasn't going anywhere. Still, I kept looking for my Poison whenever I went to the store. Tried the spawns of Poison but they are nowhere near the same scent. And then... it was like the heavenly choir sang down on me. I saw that my Poison was back baby! It is absolutely not the same strength as it used to be, the others who have pointed that out are right. I used to use two squirts and out the door, and I could still smell myself for at least a half an hour before it went into the background for me. Now I have to use more and it fades much faster from my perception. But, that just follows the trend; most things are made cheaper than they used to be or have smaller containers for the same cost. It is what it is in that respect. Yet, the scent takes me back and I am so glad to have my old friend again. I feel more me. Now if Nabisco would just bring Pilot Crackers back.

I have always found Poison to be so incredibly spicy, warm, sweet (but not obnoxiously sweet) and very, very mysterious! While the initial blast is undoubtedly feminine, as Poison settles, it can for sure be worn by a confident MAN. It smells nothing like traditional male scents, but it is warm and spiced enough for a man to pull it off rather easily. When I wear Poison, I put one spray on my bare chest, and either a spray on the back of my neck OR on my wrists! I rarely use more than 2 sprays of Poison. I will without fail get a compliment or two whilst wearing Poison. Last time I was walking out of the gym, two guys actually stopped me and asked me what cologne I was wearing. I just said...Christian Dior ;) If you like warm, sweet, spicy, deep fruity scents...Poison is for you! I do agree, it is not the exact identical Poison as the original 1980's formula, but I genuinely feel it smells basically the same, but it is (thank god) a little tamer than the wild 80's sillage monster it was. I imagine Stevie Nicks, Jim Morrison, Cher, Adam Lambert, Mick Jagger or Freddie Mercury wearing Poison. All these amazing artists together, is how I feel when wearing Poison!
