  • A little bit of everything
Size: 0.34 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
When I read the description of this fragrance, I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but I've been known to blind-buy a few scents in my time, and decided to take a chance on this because I liked all of the notes mentioned. Welp, this one delivers on all fronts! You definitely get the lavandin right off the bat. Lavandin is different from lavender, which is great because I find lavender scents to be sharper, more herbaceous and more one-dimensional. Everyone knows what lavender smells like, but lavandin is like her prettier sister. It's fresher and has a little camphor in it that naturally makes it a brighter, less dowdy scent to my nose. There's also a little orange blossom in the opening that I absolutely LOVE. The watery notes take several minutes and some body heat to bring to the forefront. There's something very faintly masculine about this heart note that is tempered by the lingering lavandin and the base of white musk with a tiny bit of powderiness to keep it distinctly feminine. For someone who doesn't love (though I do like them) florals, but really gets jazzed about watery, aquatic scents, this is right up my alley. There's something a tiny bit reminiscent of Ralph Lauren Blue in here, so that it feels almost like a throwback, but updated to something more modern and less bug-sprayish. I read somewhere that people were comparing this to YSL Libre, and it smells absolutely NOTHING like that to me. I find Libre to be a heavier, more Oriental, more masculine/unisex, stronger scent; it can take over a room if you're not judicious about it. Calm Bliss is much lighter, softer, and less in your face by a long shot. In fact, I would say that if you're a fresh, aquatic scent lover, this is an easy blind buy. Most perfumes that have florals, unless really well done and much softer than average, give me a headache/trigger a migraine almost immediately, so I'm really careful about the perfumes I wear. This, I am happy to report, does not, and I've been sniffing at my wrist for way longer than I care to admit. Projection (how far away someone can smell you) on this one is pretty low because it's not a super loud scent. Sillage (your scent trail - how long someone can smell this lingering in the air after you walked by) is also fairly low. I prefer my perfumes this way because I wear them for me to smell, not everyone else, and because fragrance is SO subjective, I feel like there's nothing worse than having to smell someone's terrible perfume for 20 minutes after they've already walked by. Longevity is, sadly, not the best, but it does transform from something brighter and pretty to something softer as it sticks close to the skin. It makes me want to bury my nose into my own wrist, and that's saying something. I cannot stress how much I love that this is in a travel spray bottle rather than a roller bottle, though I will note that my sprayer shot out more of a 'pffft' than a 'tttsssss'. Still, I'd pick this application system all day, every day because as clean as I'd like to think that I am, rollerball perfumes will always roll moisturizer, lotion and skincare products back into the bottle, which is pretty gross. This little spray bottle ensures that you can take this traveling with you and that it will stay pristine. Though I don't do aquatic scents so much anymore, this would be an easy repurchase for me if I found myself looking for one. ... show more

  • Libre for clean girlies
Size: 0.34 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Charlotte never disappoints and this one feels very “clean girl” in the best way. I pick up lavender and orange blossom, then it dries down to this light musky finish that feels cozy but still fresh from the neroli. It's giving Libre for clean girls. (and omg, I LOVE it... please never discontinue this, Ms. Charlotte..) it’s definitely a daytime perfume, the name calm bliss is spot on. not heavy or cloying, more like the scent you want on when you’re running errands or grabbing coffee and want to feel a little put together. lasting power is decent, I usually reapply in the afternoon but that’s fine with a travel size. ... show more

  • Fresh and clean, if a tad generic
Size: 0.34 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Upon first application, I really enjoyed this scent. Powdery white musk and lavender-led florals, brightened by orange blossom and citrus notes, with a watery accord. There are just enough woodsy notes to intrigue someone like me who enjoys a unisex-leaning scent without crossing the line into being too masculine or "cologne" smelling. It's a spring/summer and daytime leaning scent to me. It initially feels well balanced. Floral while being fresh and powdery instead of overbearing, citrusy without being too sharp or sweet, aquatic without being too damp or salty. It does give a bit of an "expensive spa" vibe, so I get the inspiration for the "Calm Bliss" name. If you like an airy and fresh aquatic scent, I would recommend this over "Magic Energy" from the same line (which is more seaweed/mossy leaning). But despite the positives, I did find this a bit tricky to balance for my desired projection and longevity. Apply too much, and the citrus and florals are a bit sharp upfront, giving less "just got back from the fancy spa" and more "just scrubbed the bathroom with Rainforest Fresh Foam Cleanser." Apply too little, and the aquatic and citrus notes fade early, leaving behind a powdery musk and light floral/cashmere that leans more "fresh laundry." Of course, neither of those are BAD scents; there's a reason the cleaners and detergents use them. But as a body fragrance they are a much less intriguing version of "fresh and clean" than what this scent is at its best. Be prepared to evaluate how it responds to your body chemistry and adjust application accordingly. With that said, it is a pretty "safe" and inoffensive fragrance overall, especially compared to the more polarizing entries in this line. If you wanted to gift someone a fragrance without knowing too much about their preferences, I think this would be at least "fine" to most recipients. Some of that is because it does eventually dry down into something just a bit generic, even when you get the application just right. If you apply it in the morning, you will get that "Calm Bliss" for the start of your workday...but by the afternoon, you may be left with something a bit more soapy or even shaving cream leaning. Which again, isn't a bad smell at all! It's just a bit less intriguing than the more complex and luxurious blend this leads with initially. Maybe a bit overpriced with that in mind? But it does come in a giftable branded box and an attractive teal atomizer, and it does live up to the calming billing even when it is leaning more "bath at home with bar soap" than "premium massage and facial at the beach resort." ... show more

  • Charlotte Tilbury - Calm Bliss
Size: 0.34 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This Charlotte Tilbury Calm Bliss perfume is a long-lasting scent. Unfortunately, I'm personally not a fan of this particular scent. The white floral is incredibly strong and overpowering, and quite cloying and headache inducing. I've never been a fan of white florals as the scent profile reminds me of "old church ladies". It's so strong that I cannot detect any other scent profiles. I generally love aquatics and lavender, but get nothing of that nature from this one. To my nose, this comes off as a very mature scent and not youthful or fresh. Definitely not getting any calming or blissfully tranquil vibes from this one. That being said, perfumes and scents are completely subjective by nature, so what one person dislikes another may enjoy. I'm giving this one 3 stars because the projection and longevity are there, but it's not a good match for me. ... show more
