Description

Funny woman, Instagram star and international comedy sensation, Celeste Barber's guide to life, laughs and keeping it real. Very, very real. Actor, writer and comedian, Celeste Barber is one very funny woman - not to mention a global social media comedy phenomenon. Amassing over 3 million followers in only 18 months with her hilarious challengeaccepted pics, she has been dubbed 'Australian Comedy Queen' by ABC Online; voted The Funniest Lady on Instagram; gone on sold-out comedy tours of US and UK; and won herself fans ranging from Tom Ford and Ruby Rose, to Amy Schumer and Dawn French. In the tradition of Tina Fey's Bossypants, Celeste's memoir is part memoir, part comedy routine, part advice manual. Calling out our ridiculous celebrity Instagram culture and the obsession we all seem to have with how we look, Celeste reveals all, including her thoughts on keeping it real and feeling good (instead of worrying about looking good); the secrets to love, friendship, family and marriage (hothusband); how to deal with life's many challenges, like, well, motherhood, among other things; and how to stay nice in Spanx. Celeste is real, hilarious and the world can't get enough of her. Read more

  • Funny gift
Format: Paperback
Purchased for my sister who loves Celeste's humor online.

  • Loved it
Format: Kindle
I have been in a reading slump. I chose Celeste’s book because I knew I would have some laughs and this genre helps me with life perspective. Celeste has a section where she talks about her open heart surgery that touched me. My father had two operations and the describe gives when she’s coming out of the anesthesia, broke my heart. He dies a little over a year ago. The silent screams make me wonder how aware he was of us in the room. I feel Celeste has given me the gift of insight into a place my father went that he didn’t share. I’m grateful for that. I loved the entire book and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you for sharing your stories. ... show more

  • I liked it
Format: Kindle
The book was good, funny, smart. Hard to understand at times because it's written as she talks. But funny. Love her.

  • READ THIS BOOK!This is now on my keeper shelf.
Format: Hardcover
Loved her for years! I read this off and on the entire time I was in London, Paris, and Dublin. Celeste kept me company all the way back to San Francisco. Her honesty and humor laced stories held my attention. She’s someone that you can share a bottle of whatever is opened in the shelf, wearing sweats and T-shirt and binging on the Newest Prime TV show. Or she’s definitely the girl you want at Target when you forgot about the baby shower and need a dress. You invite her because Celeste will be frank, funny, and clever when she tells you that the peach chiffon does not look good with your hair. READ THIS BOOK! ... show more

  • Crass, ridiculous, witty, opinionated, and oh look! A squirrel!
Format: Kindle
I was really eager to get this book and to read it because I find Celeste’s posts on Instagram ridiculous and hilarious, my favorite combination. I have to be honest that I didn’t know what to expect, and I hadn’t done research on what the book was about. I expected humor, laughs, and some inside info into Celeste. The book IS funny! I have snorted a couple times because her humor just catches me off guard. I may be a bit of a tightwad, because some of her humor is just a bit crass for me. There is a lot of cussing, and I can’t say I love that, even though it is an honest window into her. In the book, Celeste also addresses her ADD, and the impact it has had on her. I am so grateful she is putting a voice to ADD! However, I wish her editors had honed in a little bit in the flow of the book because it does feel a little spastic. Perhaps that’s part of the plan? I appreciate her honesty. I appreciate her wit. I appreciate, “knowing her,” a bit. I don’t appreciate her putting down our President (no matter what, he’s still the leader), the cussing...but I’m glad I read it. ... show more

  • Loved it
Format: Kindle
This was a great book. It’s funny, of course, because look who wrote it! But it’s also really touching and insightful because Celeste is so honest with her ups and downs. It’s like talking to your best friend where you know she won’t judge you, no matter what you say. I thoroughly enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars, which I don’t give away too easily. I came away from this book with lots of laughs and a little bit more of a GAF attitude, thank you very much! ... show more

  • “If you like her then you should put a read on it.”
Format: Kindle
“This above all: to thine own self be true*” is Celeste’s true gift. Everyone always wants to get to know someone (whether in life or on the page or on the screen) who really knows themself, owns up to it and embraces it. She is honest, laugh out loud funny, and a gas (full of it apparently). Buy it. Read it. Own it. If for no other reason than to keep hot husband shirtless and in awe of his amaze-balls wife. *Quote from Will (no need for last name). ... show more
