This is not my first echo show 8. I purchased a new one for my mother in 2021. She was very pleased and entertained with the device, as was I. The echo show allows you to watch, listen, and view almost any form of media. When connected to a smart home like mine, it allows for an easy, autonomous controller for the home. Alexa controls my home, it adjusts the temperature, controls lights, and starts my car. It is all connected. Most people are not comfortable with this idea because of security. Amazon has already addressed this and you don't have to worry, there is an adjustable switch to block the camera and two-factor authentication for account log in. I find it secure and have received no alerts of attempted logins from unauthorized devices. My reason for purchasing this Echo show 8 was for personal use. I prefer it over the echo dot; when I became aware of the sale for a refurbished version, I was skeptical at first because of the reviews; However, I found them to be wrong, or at least constrained to their own experience. The reason as to why is because when I received mine, I found it incredibly easy to set up. I logged into my account, provided the code for 2fac-auth and was greeted by Alexa, whom had given me a tutorial of how to navigate and use the device. My smart home was instantly connected and i began to use it as all my other echo devices. Audio quality for the echo show 8 is superior to the echo dot and you are, as always, given equalizer settings. I had to update it, as expected, and was given new device settings like custom photo uploads for the home. Conclusion, i have owned and experienced and echo show 8 before. My purchase of the refurbished version of this device was normal and i did not have a bad experience. Updates are normal, and are necessary to maintain optimal performance. Safe, secure, and efficient. 5 stars.

So. I purchased the echo show because I wanted to have a replacement for Google products I have been using. Google has turned off much of the ifttt functionality for smart homes, and this was a terrible bummer for me, because it made many of my smart home capabilities possible. I started transitioning over to Amazon Alexa products and was thrilled with the support and functionality the devices gave to my smart home. Everything started working again as it should. Bye bye Google. Until that is, the Alexa show. I like everything about it with one HUGE exception, which will lead me to NOT purchase any others now or down the road. The screen with not stay off, even if I have commanded it to turn off. It comes back on periodically and almost seemingly random. When I say "turn off your screen", I expect a device to remain off until I engage it again. Not come on whenever it wants to.

One of my favorite purchases since the Echo Show 5. The little box puts out great volume and clarity, I just wish that Alexa had just as much info as Google and was A LOT less nosy!
