  • Was the talk of the neighborhood
I bought this for my Dad as a Christmas present. It was very easy for him to put together. He finally used it at a neighborhood get together and he/this scope was the talk of the party. Good quality. Great views. Everyone was coming up to look through it. Great purchase for a beginner. I'd buy again. ... show more

  • Good for all ages
Great for beginners. My 70 year old dad and 13 year old son love it and learned how to use it very quickly. Now they want different lenses for it.

  • Good telescope with a bad finder scope
The telescope itself, for the price is very nice. Nice quality of view. Easy to use. Easy to cary. Sturdy while not heavy. The finder scope/ red dot is garbage. Which is to be expected. Separately, the finder scope, sells for around $20. A decent riffle red dot starts for at least $100. Every time I turn it back on the dot appears on different spot. I mean way different spot. The good thing is the mount of the finder scope is very good and stable and aligned enough with my telescope so I can just look through the round view finder of the finder scope, with the red dot off, and get pretty close to what I’m seeking. I also tried the bigger finder scope/ red dot that Celestron sells for around $50, still garbage. My plan is to add a dovetail to picatinny adapter and add a cheap riffle red dot that I don’t use. Because, even a cheap riffle red dot that’s goes for $40-$50 is going to be alot better than this. Or I’ll just keep using the one that came with the telescope, with the red dot off. It’s not that hard to find the moon and planets. It might be harder for other celestial objects that are dimmer ... show more

  • Love this little telescope!
This little scope has exceeded all my wildest dreams. I wanted something to get back into astronomy after 40 years. My first night out I could not believe how crisp the stars were! Pleiades, Hive Cluster, Orions belt. The wide field (f5) was just what I wanted. Everyone at the star parties I have gone to, with their $3000+ telescopes, are amazed at how good of an image this inexpensive little refractor can make. I have since put the telescope on a manual EQ Orion Mount, and now its on a Celestron AVX mount. The picture is with the Orion mount. ... show more

  • Not the scope I was hoping for
I bought the 80az as a Christmas present for my husband in hopes that we could do some star gazing. I was hoping I purchased the right scope to someday view saturns rings, but all the reviews on here are mixed up for the different scopes the seller sells. The 80az gives us nice day time terrestrial viewing and shows a slightly closer view of stars, but not that powerful for viewing planets. I’m disappointed I wasn’t able to get accurate information as to the capabilities of the scope I bought. ... show more

  • Bird watching best views
Good for beginners. I thought I was going to see amazing ski views but not so much. Stars look like the stars from the ground view. You can see the moon fairly well on a clear night, the craters. I have enjoyed it most for bird watching, great for this!
