  • All good quality
I've been an amateur astronomer for 40 years and I am amazed how good quality the tripod coming with this telescope is. Very sturdy, I am using it to load a C11 also, and the performance is perfect. The optics on the 8" telescope are also very good quality. Great buy!

  • Great Photography Package Great Price
All I can say is Wow! Talk about a Beast!!! You better have some room and a good back to lug this thing around! It's worth every effort. Don't let naysayers steer you wrong about this scope. For the money it is rock solid. The Mount (which if you're shooting deep space Photos) is unbelievable. I've read where people were whining about it being noisy but I have not experienced that. Again, for the money its a great buy. I recommend purchasing the Orion Laser Collimator. No matter what they say, reflector scopes slip out of collimation all the time and having that tool makes it very easy to fix. I also purchased a set of 2 inch lenses for the scope. Once you look through a 2 inch lens you will never go back to 1.25 lenses. Lastly Amazon always comes through on my purchases. Whenever I have made a mistake or even did not like something I purchased they made it simple to fix it. ... show more

  • Good choice
Absolutely great telescope for the value. Did lots of research before buying. There's so much to learn with this telescope. It has lots of features. It is a little heavy and big but the view was amazing and quality was awesome. I got it as a gift but did return since it just wasn't good timing to have a big telescope In a small room. I would definitely recommend it. I shipped it back and payed about 250 for shipping but I got a full refund. Great seller. Thank you! ... show more

  • Perfect for getting started with astrophotography
I've had this scope for a little over six weeks, and I already have a nice little collection of photos. I will just let the images speak for themselves. These are a series of stacked images captured with this scope and mount, a basic DSLR camera, and WITHOUT a guiding camera or any filters. I just had to process them in the software PixInsight. Except for the moon. That one is just a straight-up snapshot. In short, this scope is awesome. ... show more

  • Great telescope
Nice telescope, and a solid mount. Easy to get started with astrophotography with just a T ring adapter and a DSLR.

  • Excellent Scope!
TLDR: This is a great scope. Buy it. :) Long time ago I owned a Meade LXD55 10" which in many ways was very similar to this setup. Both are home telescope level, and both are fully computerized GOTO mounts. That is pretty much where the comparison ends. This Celestron in every way you can name is superior. This Celestron is very well made, easy to set up, and as long as you take a few trips, easy to carry out. I carry the OTA in one trip, the mount in another, and the two counterweights in a third trip. The entire set up is around 80 pounds, which is doable (for some people) in a single trip but the size and shape of the setup makes it very awkward to carry that way. I highly recommend three trips no matter how strong you are. The mount does not have a polar scope, which was a concern to me when I ordered it, but it does have a mounting place for one should the need arise. Last night I roughly pointed the hole where the polar scope would be at Polaris and made sure the latitude was correctly set on the mount before powering on. That was all that was needed for the polar alingment. Took less than a minute. After that I did the "Two-Star Alignment" and added 1 "Calib Star." (short for calibration star, but the display only shows Calib Star) Once that was done, the scope was ready to go. My first test GOTO was to Saturn. Since I can see Saturn with my naked eye, it makes a good test. Well, Saturn was perfectly in the EP. I then set it to find Neptune, which I can not see, but again the scope found it without problems. Finally, I sent it to the Dumbbell Nebula, and again the scope found it without issue. Each time the object was in the center 1/3rd of the 20mm EP's field of view. Everything about this scope is top notch. I would say you should plan to buy the following things for it: 1) A/C adapter if you are setting up near a power source. The Celestron Power Tank if not. ( Celestron Power Tank ) 2) A Telrad finder. This will make the initial star alignment much easier ( Telrad Finder Sight ) 3) If you do not have an EP collection, get the Celestron Accessory Kit, it has everything you need to get started. ( Celestron Accessory Kit ) 4) If you have local street lights, porch lights, or other local light sources definitely get the shade ( Celestron 94009 Lens Shade for C6 and C8 Tubes (Black) ) With all of the above, you will be well set to view the heavens :) Enjoy! Attached is a fast test shot I took with my Canon T5 at prime focus. It is a 15-second exposure, and I missed focus a little, but should give you an idea of what you can do with the scope with regards to astrophotography. ... show more
