Description

If you’re in search of a computerized telescope with the same star locating technology found on our more advanced telescopes at a price that fits your family’s budget, you’ll love the Celestron 80LCM with all glass optics. This computerized Refractor telescope and its GoTo mount has been designed to automatically locate thousands of celestial objects with a simple push of a button on your NexStar+ hand control. Our proprietary SkyAlign alignment procedure is simple to use, so you’re ready to explore the universe in minutes. The process starts by centering any three bright objects in your telescope’s eyepiece. From there, your LCM can calculate its position and orient itself to the night sky. The 80LCM is built with a lightweight computerized mount that makes this telescope compact, portable, and the perfect companion for star parties, camping trips, and impromptu backyard observing sessions. When the Sky Tour button is pressed, the LCM will populate a list of the best celestial objects visible at that moment in the night sky. The Celestron LCM telescope for adults comes with an adjustable aluminum tripod, two high-quality eyepieces (25mm and 9mm), 1.25” erect image star diagonal and a StarPointer red dot finderscope. To enhance your experience under the stars, download Celestron’s free SkyPortal app. Listen to hundreds of audio descriptions of the most popular objects on your iOS or Android device while you observe them with your LCM telescope. The 80LCM Computerized Telescope includes a free download of our Starry Night Basic Edition astronomy software for an interactive sky simulation. • Great Telescope For Planetary Observations
I really recommend this telescope for amateur astronomers. Because i used to have a 70az refractor, the 80lcm is not really a big difference to me. This is some pros and cons for this telescope. PROS Clear Crisp images of the moon Jupiter and its moons can be observed Rings of saturn can be clearly seen Comes with H25mm and H10mm eyepieces Bright stars can also be seen with little colour distortion. Sturdy tripod and motorized alt-azimuth mount. High quality aluminium tube. CONS Even though the telescope is 80mm and 900mm in length, it is still somewhat wobbly when mounted onto the dovetail mount. You need to do quite some reading in order to use the nexstar software properly. The red dot finderscope is a little hard to align properly, consider getting a better finderscope. The telescope requires 8AA batteries to operate, it is enough to have around 5 hours non stop stargazing. So thats it for my review, it is really good and the price is just right. Got to see albireo in cygnus with brilliant detail. Thanks for reading my review! Clear skies! ... show more

  • To own a telescope which has excellent optics, excellent controls
To own a telescope which has excellent optics, excellent controls, excellent computer guided night sky object finder, light in weight, can be run by rechargeable batteries, and does absolutely everything that an 80mm telescope can be expected to do is to own this Celestron, the best all around maker of telescopes for amateurs and university observatories. This telescope deserves 5 stars. The only reason it isn't getting them is that I wish the telescope objective lens was twice as wide. ... show more

  • Not even good for a boy's gift
Not as expected at all. All the above 5 stars are very dubious. I am a real customer and find it far not as good as I expected. There is NO computer connection at all. The software does not support Windows 8 and crash constantly. I could not see Jupiter as clear as the image shown above. It must be taken from another telescope with much higher magnification, not this one. Even my son, a 9 years old boy, feels it sucks. ... show more

  • First telescope
Sale price was so great I had to buy it! Still learning astronomy. Plenty of educational videos online.

  • Excellent Service
I purchased this item from Amazon, and while the telescope itself worked fine, the remote and motor did not work. Since I purchased it for the computerized motor, I was disappointed. I contacted Celestron and they accurately diagnosed it using the error codes on the remote. Their prompt, courteous and accurate response along with the efforts of Amazon to handle the exchange made it an excellent transaction in spite of initial disappointment. If you plan to use it for extended viewing, purchase the ac adapter, 8 AA batteries last 45 minutes. Don't forget the computer cables (2) to make it functional with the software. ... show more

  • Great scope but arrived with damages.
Awesome telescope 🔭 was a great Christmas gift for the wife. Unfortunately the scope came with a few scratches. One pays this price and would expect to get something brand new and flawless. We will be testing it in-depth later tonight. Will update this review if needed.

  • You cant really see much with this. Calibration is a pain
This is excellent for viewing moon but other than that, there is nothing much that you can see with the eye pieces that come with this.

  • Five Stars
Telescope is great. Easy to use. Immediately able to see planets. Able to see Saturn and it's rings.
