I don't know that I would call these 'heavy duty', but they are nice. There is a draw string on the bottom to tighten & a double stitched handle centered in the front to help keep it centered. The lining is pretty thin & being that our patio usually sits in the sun & snowy weather all day up here in the Southern California Mountains, I usually need material that is very thick to last more than one season. Will give these a try. I know they are bigger than my chair, but that is because I stack groups of three chairs together & also stack the cushions on top of them for winter.
