  • BIG, SHARP, and dual purposed!
Color: Brown Style: Clip and Skinner Blades
I have tons of Case knives, their steel is second to none. Truly stainless, and never had any rust problems. This knife is no exception. RAZOR sharp out of the box, both blades can shave your face. This knife is HUGE, bigger than the Buck 110. Has a clip point hunter blade, and a skinner with thoughtful jimping halfway up the spine for a good skinning grasp. The leather case that this comes with is extremely nice, light brown/tan, all leather, and a very secure snap closure. This is a slipjoint knife, no backlock, no linerlock, so don't try to stab ANYTHING or you'll lose your fingers. This is a simple utility knife, for cutting, slicing, skinning, and dressing your game. Overkill for fishing, but you could filet a fish easy as pie with this sucker. The scales are very impressice, as always with case, well polished and textured wood grain. The bolsters are some type of nickle silver or stainless, and have a high mirrored finish. The only thing that would make this knife better is a bladelock, then it would fill the rest of your camping/hunting needs all in one! Even without that feature, still gets 4 stars for fit and finish and overall BULK! Great piece from a great knife manufacturer. ... show more

  • Classic and practical.
Color: Brown Style: Clip and Skinner Blades
I got this because it has that powder horn shape like an old Schrade I carried in my purse in college. It's a whole lot nicer with the rosewood. I like my stuff to be pretty and this certainly is. I prefer stainless steel blades because they're easier to care for. They came good and sharp. I can use this for camping food prep and it will clean up nicely. ... show more

  • My first, but not my last!
Color: Brown Style: Clip and Skinner Blades
This is the first Case knife that I ever purchased/owned.....I had heard a lot about them from co-workers and various people that I had encountered over the years, but never thought seriously about owning one.....I have several knives such as Spyderco, Fox, Esee, Kershaw, etc.....mostly tactical/ EDC/ survival....and a Buck 110, a gift/classic....most knives that I had seen along this design were imported, cheap, so my interest wasn't peaked....so I learned that Case Cutlery knives were hand-made right here in the US.......I compare this knife to cars of yesterday....all metal, heavy, solid, and vintage vs. my current knives which are like the cars of today.....composite materials, lighter, US and imported......this knife was very sharp right out of the box (both blades) and the knife comes with a leather belt holder/sheath, good craftsmanship on it, but does not fit the knife snuggly....the knife itself is very detailed, with all parts, bolsters and scales, blending flawlessly, all pins are flush and smooth....this knife was made the old fashioned way.....and is heavy in comparison to modern knives.....a knife like this goes well with a pocket watch and Zippo lighter, lol...would definitely recommend this....quality is immediately transferred to the owner upon the initial touch! ... show more

  • A Great Practical Case Knife-One You Can Use
Color: Brown Style: Clip and Skinner Blades
This is really a jumbo trapper if you let the skinner blade sub for a spey. blade. A really well made knife typical of Case. The scales or handles are made of dyed and jigged compressed wood (ply). The result is a good looking and substantial knife that wood be very useful for general application. I collect some case knives. I would not consider this as a collectable and think it would serve the owner being used not displayed, you won't feel like you are destroying a potential heirloom, or get overly worried about misplacing it. ... show more

  • An Excellent Pocketknife
Color: Brown Style: Clip and Skinner Blades
I've been a Case knife owner for most of my life, and have owned Case knives dating back to the nineteen-teens. I had never owned a folding hunter and very much looked forward to adding this knife to my stable. It is also my newest Case knife by about 10 years, so it's a nice opportunity to see how the company is doing. The overall fit and finish of this knife is just fine. I hesitate to use words like "superlative" or "perfect" because it isn't, but for a $70 knife that is made in the USA, it represents excellent value. And I also recognize that it's a folding hunting knife, which means it's not going to have as much of the "jewel" like quality that some of their smaller knives do. If I compare it to my $200 Emerson CQC, it falls short ... but the Emerson costs almost three times as much, so one would expect a noticeable difference. That said, there are a few things worth noting on this Case Folding Hunter. The top edges of the skinner blade (known in the knife world as the "back") has a bit of a sharp edge to it; enough that it makes me want to open the blade with a bit of caution. The clip blade has more rounding on the edges, so this could just have been an oversight on this particular knife. It's not obstructive or a problem, but rather one of those fine details that probably should have been caught at the factory. The blades open and close with a firm snap, but there is a bit of grittiness in them. I suspect that this comes from the friction between the spring and the tang, and that it will smooth out with use. The stainless clip and skinner blades were both sharpened and honed nicely, and I expect that both will maintain a fine edge. It doesn't appear that there was a much of a fine hone put on the blades (something I'll do when they need their first good sharpening). For what this knife is intended for, it doesn't need to be a scalpel. I'm surprised how much I like the wood scales on this knife. They're jigged comfortably and will likely hold up well. Each scale is pinned by four brass rivets, plus the spring rivet at the bottom. The oval "Case XX" shield is nicely set into the wood and it's flush, so I'm not worried about anything happening to it. And lastly: this is a hefty knife. It measures 5 1/4" closed, and with the clip blade open it is a total of 9 1/4" long. This, of course, isn't a problem ... I mention this only because some people may not consider this a "pocket" knife. Mine came with a nice leather sheath, and that would be the best way to carry a knife like this. For $70 this is a really tough knife to beat, and I'm very happy with it. ... show more
