This is the cutest thing! When you instal 3 C-batteries, the machine has life-like sounds! When you power it on, the lights illuminate on the front of the washer. There are 4 buttons, Fill, Wash, Eco-Wash, and Spin. With each wash cycle, the lights change! The tub inside spins when in the Wash and Eco Wash modes. It spins faster, just like real life, when in the Spin mode! The machine will not constantly run. It shuts off after a few minutes. A WONDERFUL FEATURE - it does have a safety feature - when the door opens, the tub stops spinning! And THE BEST FEATURE EVER - the machine has a crank on the back that can be used without batteries. Of course, the sounds and lights will not function without the batteries, but the tub can still spin! So cute! Would suggest this for any child! ... show more

We bought this toy washer for our daughter (22 months-old) for Christmas 2010. I knew from looking at other toy washing machines that ALL of the washers out there are SMALL so I expected that from this one as well. In fairness, the dimensions are off as others say but the laundry basket is not a one-cup size as one reviewer stated -- it's about two or even three times larger than that. Yes, this washer is small ... but so are the kids we're buying these for! They have tiny hands and this washer is a good size for our nearly two-year old daughter and even her cousins years older than her. It was a big hit Christmas Day at our house with a load of kids aged 16 months through ten years -- all of whom loved it. Everyone took turns playing with this washing machine and stuffing things into it to listen to the sounds and watch the drum spin around. It fits nicely on the counter top of her new play kitchen and is another appliance with which she can pretend play. Do not pass this up because it's small!! Sometimes I think adults loose sight of the fact that these toys are for tiny hands and tiny people and that the size isn't disappointing to THEM. PLEASE NOTE: Almost every negative review came from a parent who had YET to give this toy to their child. I bet they're singing a different tune now if they did go ahead and give it to their child. I also bet their child would be very sad if they returned it now. This washer is realistic looking and sounding. It's one of those toys that will be the big hit of any birthday or holiday. This is the cutest little washer! My son loves it! Has realist sounds, is lit up, and spins! My favorite feature is the drum stops spinning when the door is opened, which makes me know my son won't get hurt!! And you can't beat the price!

    • A good toy but the motorized spinning drum isn’t very durable.

My son loved it and used it quite a bit washing his old socks and clothes from some of his toys. Sadly about a month and a week or so after we bought it the drum stopped turning on its own. You can still use the crank on the back to manually spin the drum. And it still makes all the sounds and lights up. But the drum no longer spins on it’s own. I tried changing batteries. If you help it get started after pushing one of the wash buttons by cranking it once or twice manually sometime it will spin a bit but you can hear the motor making a noise that sounds like it is struggling to complete the cycle. So a good toy, still fun to play with. But I am disappointed the motorized spinning drum gave out so soon. (And only days after we were eligible to return or exchange it via Amazon). Edit: After contacting the company, Camdon Toys via email, they have offered to send us a replacement. They responded to my emails within an hour or so after I sent it. They were courteous and went through some trouble shooting steps with me. When those did not work they offered to send us a replacement free of charge. If the new Washer works better and doesn’t experience the same malfunction in a month or two I will happily raise my review score to a 4 out of 5. ... show more

I bought this for my granddaughter this Xmas and it was perfect. Nothing was wrong with it. The Casdon washer performed flawlessly. Sophia was thrilled as she took every sock and mitten out of her drawers to wash them, in small loads and kept her very busy for a long time. The washer even stopped after short cycles, which she liked and would say "Need some more" and have us pretend we would dry them by blowing on them. She played on the floor and was delighted. It can be placed anywhere. The washer is just the right size for a 2-3-4 to year-old. It was small for her to handle and didn't need to be put together. Didn't have to worry about a heavier one falling on her, or need fastening to the wall, so it won't topple on her, like others. I shopped around at stores and on line. This was the best purchase for it's value and endurance. Needs 3 C batteries. Worth every penny and was a reasonable $35 on Amazon. I will recommend this for 5 stars, as well built, great performance, qualifies for small children and apartment size homes. ... show more

I bought this toy as a birthday gift for my washing machine obsessed 2 year old--we literally cannot get him to leave our laundry room alone. When he opened this his eyes lit up and he sat there playing with it for three hours straight (no joke). The key is the machine actually spins, which is what is going to keep any toddler or kid engaged. Every time we have a friend over, they are enamored with it. When I saw it took C batters (3), I was worried that we would be burning through them, but after a month of heavy use (it is used every day), we still haven't had to replace them. It has also been dragged around, dropped, stepped on, filled with onion powder (don't ask), and a cup of water and it is still going strong.
