    • Lightweight snowshoe
These are a lightweight snowshoe that come with a storage bag. The bag is a good size, but I really wish it had the mesh side as shown in the product description. The current bag design will only work well if they are dry, I would not recommend putting your snowshoes back into the bag if they are wet or snow covered. The snowshoe design is simple, but different than other snowshoes I have tried. I am used to having a toe cap with a heel strap to keep my foot locked in. This snowshoe only has the heel strap, which feels odd and less secure, but they did work. We have only had light powder snow so far this year, and the snowshoes worked fairly well given the challenging snow to work with. ... show more

We waited to review this until after we used them for the season. Yes, both my husband and I used these as the weight went up to 200 pounds. The best thing about these shoes are the light-weight frame. VERY sturdy yet easy to carry and store. Getting them on is ok, we usually sit in the back of our hatch to do so. We used these on local trails that were mostly flat. The shoe felt secure but could have used a strap in the front. I think these would be great for kids just starting out (in the child size of course). ... show more

Recently moved up north and found slippery ice is no fun! These Explorer Snowshoes have front and rear cleat crampons that help give a secure grip on icy terrain. We have animals that need tending each morning and evening and the weather cannot be an excuse to neglect them. These shoes give us the ability to go out in back conditions and walk safely.     • The stiff straps a a little hard to work with. But nice beginner set.
The stiff straps are a little difficult to maneuver to get them started if you're bending over. I suggest getting them started and the ratchets going a notch or two before putting them over your boots. Speaking of boots, these adapt to fit almost any boots. The back strap is also really stiff. They are nice and lightweight. The actual carry case is cheaper looking than the one pictured. Essentially, this is a great starter pair. I know avid snowshoers are looking for something much more high-tech. But for me, this is just what I need for going a few times per year. ... show more

Full disclosure I have not used these in the snow yet but I did fit them, try them on with boots and test all the components. My husband and I both got a set and we are going to use them in the next few weeks. Seem to be great quality and happy to add these to our winter toys!
