    • No toxic smell - and a great crib to boot.

Background: I had a horrible experience with a crib made by a company called Delta (I bought it at the Navy Exchange). It was a beautiful crib, but it had a powerful varnish smell (VOCs) when I took it out of the box and assembled it. I thought the smell would go away with time and as a grandparent (grandfather) we were not expecting to need the crib for a couple of months - we were just getting ready for when the kids visited or needed a babysitter for a night or two. But it would not go away. I called the company and was told to rub it down with vinegar and warm water. I did it twice, to no effect at all. The bedroom with the crib just reeked, and I was not going to expose my 6-month old grandson to toxic chemicals. So I disassembled the crib and took it to the dump. I started looking for a replacement, and found this crib which advertised that there was no VOCs used in the build process, certified non-toxic. It arrived and absolutely met my highest expectations. Terrific crib and not the slightest hint of a VOC. This should be legally required, but until it is, this is the crib to buy. ... show more

Loving this compared to the dark brown sleigh bed style crib that was trendy when we had our first. - Really slim to keep in our room for the bassinet graduate. - Few hardware holes showing. - Rounded corners for sibling safety. - I was worried it wouldn’t be sturdy like our last chunky crib, but it doesn’t wobble when you give it a shake, as a crying jumpy tot eventually will. To touch on issues from other reviewers: - It did have a new crib smell, but it’s just an out of the box new smell that smelled more like wood than anything else. - It arrived totally as expected with no packaging issues. - Also all kids chew on crib railings. Whatever crib you choose, it’s inevitable that varnish and scrapings of wood will get chewed off. Giant gauges don’t happen in one sitting - your teething standing kid will not be swallowing mouthfuls of shavings or chunks of wood when you think they’re napping. I’d rather my kid gnaw on greenguard certified materials than the alternative, tho. We chose this over a babyletto with color being the tie breaker. I bought this crib thinking it would be built extremely strong and sturdy. It worked out well when my baby was too young to really move around. As soon as he became mobile, we soon realized how cheap the materials that hold the mattress were. A few of the springs broke, the crib squeaks extremely loud. This is really cute. I love that it has a low profile. I am 5'3, but i don't have any problem picking up my baby from the lowest mattress setting. If you are short, definitely consider this one. Also, it was really, really easy to put together. Put it together by myself in 30 minutes. It would have only taken me 20, but i put a piece on backwards that was not well labeled. It's a cute crib and great for a small space. Fit our mattress perfectly. Exactly as pictured in terms of color. Very easy to put together - hubby and dad did it in about a half hour. The biggest reason I purchased it though was for the reviews that said it had no toxic smell, and it was Greenguard certified. Presumably, it smells less than something that is not Greenguard certified... BUT - it 100% definitely has a smell. I've had the windows open for a couple days and it hasn't gone away yet. Unfortunate and frustrating as I can't return it now that it's put together. Hopefully it goes away and praying that it being Greenguard certified is safe enough for baby. Only other downside is the warning stickers on the sides do not come off clean. I have ordered goo gone and am waiting for it to arrive so I can see if the stickers come off with that. ... show more

I love this crib. Baby has not arrived yet but it looks very steady. Very simple but nice looking. Price is great. Arrived in time. No damaged parts. My husband assembled it In less than 30 min. The biggest plus it does not smell at all. After reading the reviews on some affordable cribs a lot of them smell like chemicals. Just got this in today and I'm 29 weeks pregnant. Took me about 15 minutes to assemble. It's gorgeous and very sturdy. Super easy to put together. The directions say it takes two people, but I didn't it by myself(to my husband's dismay lol) with no problem. It's exactly as described.
