I just started the snow shoe adventure and was new to this. So I am looking for some affable ones as a beginner. This snowshoes are beyond my expectation. They are light, have great traction, float deep snow well, and are great for flat trails. I guess I can explore more in Rocky Mountains this winter. Remember to add the winter clothes and backpack weight when selecting the snow shoe size, I cannot believe they added around 30 lds for me. ... show more

    • Meh. Inexpensive. Underwhelming.

On the plus side these appear fairly lightweight, come with poles and gaiters for not a lot of money. I also like the carrying bags. Tried them in deep snow and they work as far as I can tell. Next time I will err on a larger side - don’t make the mistake I made of buying smaller ones. The negatives so far: the buckles are wonky and the front ones don’t ratchet down properly. You need to push the strap through the buckle to tighten. That happens on all five pairs I bought. Also the poles are a bit of a pain to adjust and come apart easily... but they are as easy to put back together. The baskets on the poles are small... I’d prefer larger ones for snowshoe poles. Also, they throw snow at my behind as I walk like nobody’s business. I don’t know if all snowshoes do that, but these certainly do and that’s annoying. Can’t comment on durability yet. ... show more

Have never went snowshoeing before, so I got a set for myself & my 3 daughters. We went up to MI. to snowshoe through a couple of forest trails. The snow was about 2 1/2ft deep. We did sink a good foot through the snow, but was able to descend & ascend some very steep terrain without slipping. Also the polls came in handy, & was able to withstand a good 40lb push-up assisting in getting up the steep inclines. I took these out on an hour long hike and they worked okay. The snow was about 12in deep and there was not much of a groomed trail to follow. I followed the sizing guidelines, but they just seem too big, it makes it harder to navigate. I’ve rented snowshoes before that we’re higher quality and they were smaller. These stayed on my feet for most of the hike, but they started to loosen up towards the end and my foot slipped out twice. The poles are a little flimsy, I don’t feel like I can put a lot of weight on them. ... show more

Purchased Large. I'm 5'7", 225lbs, 18" calves. I put leggings on with mid-weight hikers and jeans. They are snug but fit well; would be perfect if they were are inch shorter. I wore them all day, working in 6 to 12 inches of snow -- they stayed in place, no slip-down or loosening at boot; they kept snow and slush out completely. Both leggings have 2 pockets: one on the side, accessible by zipper or velcro at top; one in back, accessible by velcro at top. Both have enough room for an energy bar, ID, fire starter, etc (maybe a small wallet, cell phone) but nothing bulky like heavy gloves or face mask. ... show more

    • Crampon flat after 3 weeks.

Just 3 weeks into the snowshoe season the crampon, which gives traction on icy surfaces, has completely flattened out rendering these showshoes completely useless. These snowshoes are sold on Amazon under a number of different brand names but having ordered two different brands we've found them to be identical. ... show more

    • Sizing not good, Large is like an EXTRA (or XX) large.
I wear a size 10, which according to the guidance from the seller I should need a size large. However these are MUCH too large. I pull the draw string at the top as tight as I can, and they still fall and they still fall down. The buckle mechanism near the bottom is underneath my boot, which makes it almost impossible to buckle or unbuckle. If I'm walking in snow and ice, this freezes up and it's (again) almost impossible to unbuckle. I think a size medium would have worked better. About the only positive thing about these, is the fabric is waterproof and very durable. However because they are waterproof your legs/calf will sweat after wearing them for a long time. ... show more

For under $100 you get the whole package of what you need to snow shoe. They are easy to fit and grip the snow well. Can’t speak to durability yet but I did get the protection plan just in case.
