I've worn Levi 517 boot cut jeans my entire adult life, but in the last few years I've notice a marked decline in their quality and ease of tearing and wearing, so I've been trying to find alternatives. Landed on these Carhartt jeans because they are one of the few still sewing in 7 belt loops and have always had a good reputation. Well, these are still holding up longer than the previous pair of Levi's! I do a lot of metal work and bending/squatting and a fair amount of trying to maneuver around mildly pointy bits of miscellaneous materials in tight spaces, but haven't had a single puncture or rip. Waist sits right, pockets aren't paper thin inside like some other brands, they're comfortable, cost a little less, and the color hasn't even run out with washing and scrubbing diesel soot out! I only wish they had a larger flare to get over my boots easier. I've found it best to roll the legs up, out my boots on and roll them back down to make it easier to get the leg opening over the top of my boots, particularly the wide tops of muck boots.

Finally a pair of pants that I can wear without altering. The comfort is great right out of the package. Being made by Carhart the seams are very strong. The pockets are a good size and are sturdy. I have used them on construction sites as well as just day to day wear the they function perfectly. The value was also great, in fact I have already ordered another pair since they look great as well.

My husband has worn Carhartt for years & loves them. I purchased this pair in early August and there is a rip at the back pocket. Are these returnable? This has never happened before!

The current/new Carhatt blows -- find another company that makes good stuff, like Carhatt used to. I have bought/used Carhartt's for years. This was my first time with this jean style. They are garbage -- the fabric is very light (nothing like the Carhartt of old, nor what would be expected from the word "Rugged" in the name), and after barely six months of wearing once or twice a week they tore in a major way. Not because I snagged them or anything -- not even in the knees (I spend a lot of time working down on my knees.) No, this was near a pocket, but not even a pocket failure -- just fabric failure. And the fabric if so light, it got big very fast. They are garbage now, and for sue I am not buying any more Carhartt's... time to go investigate Dickies. Or Ben Davis? After years of Carhatt, now I have to go look for some other reliable brand. My last Carhatt jeans lasted through years of hard use... not their current crapola.
