I think these are great, my son is 9 years old, 63 pounds of muscle+bone but no fat-he’s 52” inches tall , skinny and long so these size 10 are too roomy in the hip area. He actually has a bubble butt so they fit on the back well. It’s bunching up too much in the front and sides but I believe an 8 would be too small idk. They’re quite long too because he’s pretty average height for 9 and I had to roll them. Maybe I need a different style for a narrow hipped stringbean boy . My older son was always needing to wear husky I wonder if these would of fit him. Always a struggle ! I added 3 photos

My son has "sensory stuff" and had worn Gymboree jersey lined khaki pants for winters here in New England since he was two. He has outgrown the brand, and I am having a hard time finding anything comparable. He dislikes jeans, even super soft ones. Sweatpants are not warm enough. I was hopeful we had found a replacement, but these pants are VERY stiff/rigid and the flannel is not thick enough/soft enough. These are basically work jeans with a sub-standard flannel lining and a TINY waist. My son is average height/weight for his age. The length and width were generous (a little big) for the size, but the waist was so small he couldn't button the pants. These pants are very well made, just not soft enough on the inside or cut for a straight waisted boy in my opinion. I'm sure they would keep someone with a tiny waist and extra height warm enough if they didn't mind mobility restriction or mildly rough flannel. We will continue to search!

I ordered a size 14, I am roughly 5 foot, 105lbs and usually a 000/00 or 23 inch waist in women. Happy with my purchase! Waist was a bit baggy but the elastic band fixed that and the pants fit great length wise! I’ve never been able to find carhartt pants that fit me since womens sizes don’t go small enough, glad I found these to keep me warm!

Other reviews said that the pants ran large. They do not. My son is 8 years old & 52" & about 58lbs & normally wears a size 8. I was hoping to get them long enough he can roll once, but they definitely can't roll without showing his ankles.. That said they don't run long and seem to run true to size compared to Cat & Jack or Old Navy. The waist is adjustable, which is nice cause it does run a little large in the waist. If your child normally needs slim sizing I might pass even with the adjustable waist, but a slender kid who can wear regular sizing should be fine. They are good quality.
