I use stabilizer for fiberart projects that incorporate flimsy, slippery, basically non-cooperative fabrics. So I cut a 4” wide slice of stabilizer and used it with nylon net and china silk to stitch some pattern stitches as an experiment. It was kind of tricky getting the fabrics and stabilzer together, but no surprise, The stitching went quite well. My machine didn’t complain and did various widths, lengths and stitches. Removing the stabilizer was more of a hassle than expected – The majority dissolved easily, but around the stitching it took quite a bit of rubbing – on the net it was partly my fault for somehone getting it doubled over part of the sample, but it also happened in the single thickness. On the silk it was hard to see and necessary to feel if it was gone. This was the toughest test I could think of and it went well enough that if I needed to use this for a project I wouldn’t hesitate.
