The "convertible" design is so clever, nice to be able to wear any type of shoe (flip flops!) on the way to ballet.... totally comfortable for dancing, as the opening sits under the arch of the foot and has a thin edge to it. I think it would work for all but the very pickiest kids who can feel every seam, wrinkle, etc. in their socks. My daugther and I love Capezio... they hold up class after class, wash after wash. I never expected to be able to pass along tights, but my neighbor's kid is wearing her previous pair now. As to fit, she's 4 feet tall and just outgrew the smaller Capezio girls size. These tights are really stretchy -- the new "big girl" ones are not baggy in the least but will fit (and last) for several years.

We have had no problems with the quality of these tights. They fit as expected, and look nice on. The reason for 4 stars vs 5 is that nowhere in the description does it state that these are transition tights. They are. We were trying to buy footed tights. I assume tights to be footed tights unless stated otherwise. It should really say that these are transition tights somewhere in the title and/or description.
