I notice that many people are complaining about the number of pages the ink prints. I too had this problem at first. The solution was simple. I put the settings on draft which prints the same quality with less ink. Standard print eats a lot of ink and if you put it on best it definitely consumes ink really quick. I keep my printer set on draft and change it to standard only when doing special printing such as t-shirts, invitations or greeting cards. When the light comes on that means that you have at least 50 pages (sometimes more) that you can print before you run out of ink. I was able to put the cartridges I removed (because of the low ink light) back into the printer and got 50 or more pages out of them. Just glad I decided to try it before I threw the cartridges away.     • Low Cartridge Warning is Misleading

Didn't seem to last as long as I expected. But that may be misleading, since it starts telling you your ink levels are low when the cartridge is maybe one-half consumed. The Pop-up warning screen shows the ink level to be like maybe 5%, when you still have lots of ink left. So, don't replace the cartridge until it actually stops printing. I replaced the black cartridge that came with my printer and printed ten sheets of paper. The low ink light came on! I couldn't believe how quickly the ink take became empty. And the tanks aren't cheap, either. It's obvious that Canon is making its money selling ink rather than printers!

Lasted for about 15 sheets. Very much a scam. I thought i was imagining things, or perhaps doing something wrong with the printer settings but, after reading others’ reviews, I’ve concluded it’s a scam. I saved 5 cartridges I have bought and used in about one year, and I hardly ever print. Waste of money, shipping and packaging. Someone should complain that this is FRAUDULENT. ... show more

Yes, this was easy to install. No, it wasn't worth the purchase price. I printed out about 15 pages and all of a sudden my low ink light was back on. Yes, the printer was inexpensive, but I have since tossed it because the cost of the ink was going to bankrupt me. I am very disappointed because I liked the printer. This is no deal. Maybe if you print something every week or two, but not good for daily use. ... show more

This is the first time I ordered just the black ink (I usually get the combo) but there is no reason it should be such a poor product...they are the same thing. This printed 10 pages vs 25 with the one I got in the combo pack. I couldn't finish my project even. NEVER again!

I'm making it neutral but I'm not happy with either this printer or the ink I ordered with it. After replacing the black ink after a WEEK of owning this printer. So I am not sure if it is the ink cartridge or the printer. If I take the ink cartridge out it feels the same as it did when I put it in 2 days ago(Ordered a week ago but set up and used only 2 days ago). I do not use this printer a lot at all either, whatsoever. So I am putting the same review on both the printer and ink cartridges alike. Maybe spend a little extra on a better printer.
