  • There is an expiration date
Like all Caig products I have used this does what is says. I used it to rejuvenate the rubber surrounds on some very expensive studio speakers. I could hear a buzzing sound on low notes. I cleaned the surround very carefully and the distortion was reduced but still present. There were recommendations on line for this product so I ordered a bottle from Amazon. It completely solved the problem and the 10 year old rubber surrounds look (and sound) like new. After that I went all over the house looking for old rubber items. One item in particular, an eyecup for a 40 year old SLR camera, was in bad shape and not replaceable. This product worked it's magic and the part is now flexible and looking great. There is an expiration date for two years from now on the bottle. I doubt I can use it up in that time, but I will try! I have an old cassette deck and some printers that need maintaining. ... show more

  • Cant tell if it worked or not
I wanted to soften up some rubber bulbs (think turkey baster but more industrial). They are rubber and overtime have gotten stiffer and started to crack. I followed the instructions, applied and dried. I cant feel r see that they're any better. Maybe this is only good for black rubber like a Buna N, don't know but I don't think its working for me. ... show more

  • Works on a 22 year old HP Lazerjet 1100.
So I've had the HP Lazerjet 1100 for 22 years, purchased new in 1998. This printer is a workhorse, with 10k pages printed already. Mid last year, started having jam on paper uptake. Looked at the pickup roller (the big 1.5 inch rubber wheel) and it was dry looking. Put some the Caikleen liquid on the entire roller, letting it soak up for 30 minutes. Wiped the excess with a micofiber cloth, replaced the toner, and it started printing again. I'll probably order a replacement roller to keep handy, but this stuff works in a pinch! I'll return with additional information, if the printer fails again. BTW: the MSDS on this indicates that it has Lemon extract for cleaning, Propalyn Glycol, and mineral oil to feed the rubber. Some petroleum distillates, but no real smell other than a hint of lemon. Of the other pickup roller rejuvenators, this one in my opinion is the best, since the other ones have naphthalene. ... show more

  • Questionable effectiveness
I have repeatedly used this on my laser printer pickup roller (the first roller to grab paper to feed printer). Seems to have helped but will by no means restore original suppleness to rubber products.

  • Solved my paper-feed issues.
This product fixed my paper-feed issue on my HP Photosmart D7260 inkjet printer. The printer has had problems for years, often signaling me that it was out of paper when it wasn't. This last week it requested repeatedly that I fix a paper jam - when there was no paper jam. I attempted to re-surface the rollers on both the printer and the duplex attachment with a pencil eraser, to no avail. Finally I resorted to a web search - and found this product, with lots of helpful Amazon reviews. 10 minutes or so to clean and re-apply the liquid, another 15 to let it soak in - and voila, no more paper-feed issues, at least for now. Some reviewers have had difficulty attaching the supplementary cap with the needle applicator. I found that it was indeed challenging - what I did was (1) removed the cap from the end of the needle to relieve back pressure inside the bottle cap assembly, (2) made sure that the cap was "square" with the bottle neck threads, and (3) pushed the cap down firmly until I could feel the threads engage, then screwed the cap on. The bottle is packaged quite full, and I expect that the folks who had trouble getting the cap on didn't take off the needle cap. It's quite possible that the air volume in the small tube cavity creates enough back pressure under compression that it resists the cap installation. It's definitely worth installing the applicator - just don't stab your hand while pressing down on the bottle cap! ... show more

  • A little goes a long way
I had some dried-up, hard, and slick rollers on a thermal dye-sub photoprinter that just wouldn't pick up photo sheets. Looked at several different rubber restoration products and this one seemed to have the magic ingredients based on reviews here and elsewhere on the interwebs. It worked like a charm, even across different rubber types, such as the typical black rubber roller, but also a more synthetic grey type that I had concerns it may not play well with. No problems across the board. The included needle tip is very useful for getting to recessed rollers without having to take things apart. I used a q-tip to spread and rub in the oil after dosing it on with the needle tip. Let it sit, then reapplied, left it over night, and wiped any remaining oil away the next morning. The roller were truly like they were brand new afterwards. I was very impressed. Unless you repair machines for a living, you can probably get away with the smaller bottle size. Even with purposely finding other things to use this on, I can't fathom that I'll need any more for at least a couple of years. ... show more

  • It just works.
I have an Okidata 5100 color laser printer that had not had a working tray pickup mechanism for more than 5 years. When I say it didn't work, I don't mean it would jam every now and then; I mean you could try 50 times to get it to work even once and all you would end up with after those 50 attempts is 50 wasted pieces of paper. It. Didn't. Work... Ever. I tried cleaning the rollers, tried cleaning the paper path, tried different thickness papers. Nada. I had to use the multi-purpose mini-tray to print, and that was slowing going out, too. I ran across this stuff and decided to give it a go. I almost didn't buy it. I mean, when was the last time you bought something that fulfilled all its promises? I figured, what the heck. It was this or a new printer. I bought it, put it on the roller, rubbed it around making sure every part of the rollers got some, then wiped off all remaining traces. It took all of 10 minutes. POOF! The printer now works. Not just a little works, either. It just works. I didn't have to apply the stuff twice. No missed sheets, no jams. It's like I just bought it. Don't sit there pondering. Just buy some. ... show more
