Description

What happens when a single mother is forced to live with a grumpy, ailing football star? The smolder turns red hot. A standalone follow-up to the best- selling, WRECKING BALL. Amanda Shaw has pulled it together. It’s taken a couple of years, a boatload of hard work, and a ton of self-discipline, but she finally has her problems in a headlock. Her yoga studio in the city has become so successful she’s opening one near the beach, and her relationship with her ten-year-old son is improving every day. The last thing she needs is a monkey wrench thrown into her smoothly running life. Grant Hendricks is one big monkey wrench. The four-time Defensive Player of the Year, three-time NFL sack leader, and all-around football god has officially hit rock bottom. A devastating back injury means he may have to retire and that scares him more than doctors telling him the next hit could leave him paralyzed. All he needs is a quiet place to think and his teammate’s beach house sounds like just the place. Problem is, the woman already living there. Read more

  • My favourite story of the series! Funny, emotional and just wonderful
I’m so happy that I decided to read this series and especially this book. I enjoyed all three stories very much, I’m only sorry that I waited so long to read them. After reading the first two books of the ‘Hard to love’ series I was very curious and excited to read the third book ‘Bulldozer’. Especially when I discovered that it was Amanda’s story! I was looking forward to seeing Calvin’s sister Amanda and her son Sam again (both were secondary characters in the first book so it’s better if you read that book first before this one). This was again a great story. Not only did we get to see how Amanda and Sam are currently doing, but we also learned more about Amanda’s childhood and past and her alcohol addiction and her struggle to say sober, even now when she’s been sober for a few years. Both Amanda and Grant were lonely. Grant didn’t have a lot of friends and he had no contact with his family. Football was his whole life and there was a good chance that due to a back injury he would have to stop playing and that made him very anxious and depressed. So he wasn’t in a good place when he first met Amanda and Sam. Amanda was a single mother of a ten year old son. Every day she worked hard to make her yoga business a success and to stay sober. Everything was going well but it was also a lonely life. Neither of them expected to find love, friendship and a new future with other person but they did. Now they only have to be brave enough to reach for love and each other. At the start of the story Grant was very grumpy and not so nice, I wasn’t sure what to think of him but from the moment that he started to connect with Sam and later Amanda, I felt for him. Grant was a great mix of alpha man with a touch of vulnerability and to my surprise some innocence too. He was a bit of a contradiction, as a professional football player he was very confident but when it came to women, love and relationships, I would describe him as shy and ignorant. But he really tried very hard to be a good friend to Amanda and Sam and I loved him for it. Because of his difficult childhood where his father hurt his mother, Grant was convinced that he was no good for a relationship (that’s why he didn’t have any) but his feelings for Amanda and Sam were too strong to resist in the end. He was so caring for both of them, so kind, generous and very protective. It was lovely to see Sam again, a little bit older than in the first book and this time we got to see how his relationship with his mother was. Sam was still a quiet, shy and great child. And it was wonderful to see how deep he connected with Grant. It felt very natural and emotional. Amanda was a wonderful mother, she tried so hard to make up for her past mistakes and you could really feel her love for her son. She was strong, hardworking and also very caring. The story was told from Amanda’s POV. It’s again a slow burn story (just like the previous two books) and I loved every minute of it. ‘Bulldozer’ had a great mix of fun and emotions in the story. I had lots of fun in the beginning when Amanda and Grant were more enemies than friends and the emotional parts in the story were wonderful too. I’m the writer very grateful that she gave us two epilogues in the story!! I loved the whole series but I do think that this story is my favourite of the three stories. ... show more

  • Worth the wait
I finally, FINALLY, moved this up to the top of my TBR, and it made my love for the rest of the series come rushing back to me - one of my all-time favorites. Often, when you've been anticipating reading a book for so long, you build up unrealistic expectations that it has no chance of meeting. That wasn't the case here; I'd just had this little gem sitting on my Kindle, waiting for the right moment. And this was it! There's something about Dangelico's work that resonates with me; I always devour her books in one sitting, and they are often poignant, memorable reads. This one pairs humor with heart, providing a playful, friction-filled roommates to lovers romance, a story of redemption, AND a sweet, sentimental single mom romance, all rolled into one. The hero is a lovable grump who is shameless, but such a little sweetheart in the ways that count. He's a giant linebacker with a marshmallow heart and the tendency to blush when he's embarrassed... how adorable is that? The chemistry that sparked between this couple leapt off the page, and I experienced so many emotions while reading. I loved it! The story follows Amanda, a single mom who is trying to do things right this time around. She knows she's made plenty of mistakes in the past, but she's been sober for three years, and is now focused on being a great mom. So when she borrows her brother's vacation home for an extended business trip, the last thing Amanda expects to see is a large man clad in his birthday suit. Grant is her brother's former teammate, and while she's been told he's one of the good guys, he certainly doesn't seem to match that description. Reeling from a spinal injury, the giant man is moody, broody, and all kinds of frustrating. As the two - along with Amanda's son - figure out how to live together temporarily, Amanda soon realizes that there's more to Grant than meets the eye. He's determined to stay away, but that zap of connection keeps pulling them together. As with the other (excellent) books in this series, there's a phenomenal slow burn romance, plus a great combination of lighthearted moments and shots of angst that will HURT. I loved watching Amanda and Grant stumble along the way; they've both got their walls up, and that means it's not an easy progression. In the other books in the series (certainly not required reading, but I highly recommend them), we got to see the troubled side of Amanda. Here, she's in a much more stable place, and I loved that she's actually the one with a steady foundation. The story is told exclusively from her perspective, but we really do get to know Grant well - he's this big, strong man who is broken and vulnerable on the inside. They make such a compelling combination, and the payoff at the end was immensely satisfying. It renewed my love for the series in a big way, and that's always a fantastic feeling. ... show more

  • touching love story
Such a beautifully evolved love story starting from two unlikely characters! Unique from the previous stories in this series but done just as well!

  • egregious and distracting misspellings
This is the third book in the Hard to Love series I’ve read, and the third one that has such blatantly erroneous spelling it makes me mad. It’s not even complicated words that are being misspelled, it’s easy things you could Google like Swiffer (not Swifter, and if the point was to avoid copyright infringement just call it a damn mop) or Jayne Mansfield (her name is given without the Y). The author needs to either fire their editor or use a quick Google search for misspellings and grammatical mistakes. If you can get past that, the story isn’t bad, but wraps up much too easily. ... show more
