Wore this to a black tie formal wedding and on another occasion to an opera performance. It is very comfortable and has a decent amount of stretch. I was pregnant and had gained significant weight in my stomach but this dress covered it well (it has a slight fit and flare cut). It’s also long enough for tall women (I’m 5 foot 11) and busty figures (I’m 36DD cup). The best thing about the dress is how unique it is, the color and pattern are striking, goes well against pale skin , and the fuzzy velvet is a delightful thing to wear! The fabric has some heft but isn’t overly heavy. The weight makes me feel as though it is higher quality and will last for many more occasions. The wedding I attended was in early June in an Idaho mountain resort town so it was pretty cold outside (around 55F degrees ). I used a blue pashmina scarf as a shoulder wrap to stay warm and it worked well. I also wore it with tights, and it looked great. You could easily wear with either muse or black tights. I was a bit concerned before buying it that the thin spaghetti straps would make it look too casual for the occasion but it doesn’t. Beautiful dress, I loved the material and the fit of the top, but the bottom was too small. I have a pear shaped body with a little bit of an apron belly and it was very tight in places I wouldn't have anticipated. This dress is a good fall/winter dress for a wedding or nice event. It is heavy. I bought a large and weigh as out 150 pounds and am 5’7. I wouldn’t recommend it for a summer event. Where do I start? Perhaps with the GOD-AWFUL smell of this dress. Like the most obnoxious fabric softener smell you can imagine, on steroids. I could barely leave it on long enough to try it on. It also came with ZERO tags on it, which makes me wonder if this was a returned dress and that’s why it smells like fabric softener. Which, if true, is gross. Send new items as promised. It also was supposed to be be apricot with black overlay. The overlay is deep blue, not black. Not sure if that’s a “this dress” thing or if there is no black and apricot dress at all. Dress sizing: it was too large for me. I typically wear a medium women’s shirt, and size 12-14 jeans. I’m 5’4” and 172 pounds at the moment. Pear-shaped but not super tiny up top. The top of the dress was too big. The rest of it was also a bit big, it might have worked if the top hadn’t been so big. The straps are also in kind of a weird spot, a bit more out to the side than I would’ve liked, but might’ve been just because it was too big. I’ll write a review of the size medium replacement that I ordered and see how that fits. The dress itself was decent quality, as much as I could tell in the fifteen seconds I had it on lol. It was heavy, felt fancy, and although I don’t know how it’ll hold up I didn’t see any glaring issues with stitching and such. Although to be fair I put it back into the bag quickly because just having it out was making the entire room smell like the dress. Blech. Anyway it wasn’t a super light and fluffy dress. The dress is very lovely. I gave it four stars because it just didn’t fit my 4’11”, 97 lb body quite right. I can’t really pinpoint it but for the right person this dress would be lovely. The lining is perfect so that the dress isn’t too sheer. The overlay is mesh with the pattern being a velvet texture. I would recommend either wearing a strapless bra with it. ... show more
