I wore these brand new, fresh out of the box hiking for hours in Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. They were immediately comfortable, didn't rub or feel too stiff, and kept my feet safe and happy all day long. I used these on both wet and dry trails, sandy trails, loose rock, wet rock, and to walk around town on pavement over the course of a week. I have wider flat feet and osteoarthritis in the balls of my feet. Generally the only foot pain I ever have is the arthritis, and my complete lack of arches from flat feet causes me no pain or issues. These shoes are great for my feet. I ordered a size 8 because I can usually wear an 8 or 8.5 in Brooks and be good to go. The 8 felt too short, so I returned for an 8.5 and they were perfect. They held up to a lot of really rocky terrain with nary a scuff and great traction. I hosed the sandy dust off and they are ready for the next hike! Very pleased with these! ... show more

I was getting ready to go on a trip that involved walking and hiking and my coach recommended Brooks hikers. I have a foot that is a bit wider than a medium so I have to look for a wide and this was pretty much my option. Luckily I love the black/seafoam combo. At first try I wasn’t sure about these since they are a definitely different feel from the Brooks Ghost that I just got for the gym. They aren’t “squishy” like the ghost, but it makes sense. The sole and structure are a great design for hiking-more rigid and the sole have good grip. I also got a men’s version for my husband. Loved the color these shoes are not only cute but very functional. I purchased them to do some hiking, I did a 20 mile hike in them and was very pleased in their performance. I did have a situation where my middle toe rubbed and I ended up losing my nail I also had a blister on the other foot on my heal. (This was around the 12 to 15 mile mark) I could have probably used a thicker sock, as the shoe was just a little bit loose.     • Fantastic traction
I am absolutely positively NOT a runner! I’m just a thick chick with a boat load of foot issues. I like to try and hike with my family and wanted a pair of super grippy Brooks. I have an AFO (ankle and foot orthotic. This can make finding shoes that accommodate the AFO a little tricky. I ordered a size 10 and while my afo fit, it was very uncomfortable wearing it in this shoe. The good foot fit was perfect and very comfy. I ordered an 11.5, winner winner chicken dinner! AFO fits perfectly and comfortably! These are light and very comfortable. They clean up very easily and have fantastic traction too! Will definitely be buying a replacement pair in the newest version of this when the time comes to retire this pair! ... show more

These are ok but do not fit like the Ghost. Not as much cushion inside & across the top of my foot is very snug, even though I purchased a wide. Not certain they understand that if someone has a wide foot, typically they also have a thicker foot. But they do have good traction.
