  • First Levitate; definitely not my last
Size: 10 Color: Blackened Pearl/Grey/Black
Read numerous reviews before buying these. I am a forefoot striker and have had a number of foot issues since turning 40. Brooks Ghost were my last pair of running shoes and they are more neutral foot strike and cushion so not much improvement in my toe box pain level. I was suspicious of the fit and feel after receiving them. The tongue is silly. It is not a full tongue, it is sewn in at the very top leaving little room to put your foot in. I have narrow feet with high arches so it hasn't been an issue... ever... until now. Once you do get the tongue pushed back into the shoe and flat it is barely noticeable. What IS noticeable immediately is the rear heel cup. Many reviewers noted the tight heel cup and the odd placement of the band around your upper Achilles area. It is lower than most shoes but so tight that it rubs with every movement. I have run for a long time and typical first 2 or 3 runs in a shoe result in some discomfort and blisters. If you are not prepared for this then Levitate will likely get bad reviews. I was prepared and I can tell you the tightness feels great and the "heat" from the contact point goes away after a couple runs. The best part is that the Levitate actually allows me to run more than 1x per week now. The forefoot cushion is excellent. The rigidity of the spine is enough to prevent arch strain, which forefoot runners are very familiar with. Overall this is a great shoe for forefoot strikers with the understanding that you need to break them in. Would be great if there were some more interesting colors and patterns available. ... show more

  • Fits small, cheaply made
Size: 11.5 Color: White/Black
I've been using Brooks shoes for many years and have been extremely happy with them. I read great reviews of the Levitate 4 and thought they'd be perfect for me. I was very disappointed. The shoe fits much smaller than the size due to the sock-like nature of the design. It's very tight all over. The toe box is more narrow than any other Brooks shoe I've worn. The material feels cheaply made. It's perforated all over so if you'll use these in colder climates, your feet will freeze. I ran a few blocks and realized that I made a terrible mistake in buying these. I returned them later that day. Brooks made many mistakes with this shoe. I hope they learn from it and make changes for the next iteration. ... show more

Size: 12 Color: Grey/Oyster/Blue
Normally, I absolutely love Brooks shoes. These actually HURT my feet. WAY too tight. They got it wrong when they designed these. Buyer beware! Any other pair of Brooks but these!!!

  • Terrible quality
Size: 12.5 Color: Blackened Pearl/Grey/Black
I haven’t even taken them running yet and they already ripped. The quality isn’t what it use to be.

  • Terrible update to a great shoe
Size: 11 Color: Red/Cherry Tomato/White
They have changed these so much. Terrible fit. The tongue of the shoe is sewn into the shoe giving the owner no way to loosen the shoe up. I don’t even know why they have laces. These are horrible and I have been a brooks levitate fan for years. No more.

  • glorified slippers that are impossible to loosen
Size: 9.5 Color: Navy/Grey/White
I love Brooks Levitate 2 and decided to "upgrade" to Levitate 4; however, for some reason, Brooks decided to permanently attach the tongue of the Levitate 4 to the sides, making it impossible to loosen the shoes. The laces are now completely useless, and the shoes are basically glorified slippers that are way too tight for my feet. I have no idea why Brooks did this, but the shoes are a complete loss for me. ... show more

  • Unfit for human feet - Cheap construction AND poor fit
Size: 8.5 Color: Red/Grey/Black
I don't often get the chance to write a 1-star review. I try to make good choices but once in a while I make such a terrible mistake that a one star review is the only thing I can do. I have a history with Brooks Levitate. I have had three pairs of the original. As they are hard to find I thought I'd buy the latest version. Version 4 has to be better than the original, right? Wrong, so very wrong. I ordered a pair at my correct size and I was surprised that they didn't fit. 1. The toes turn in too early meaning that my big toe is not at the widest part of the shoe. 2. The top of the sneaker where the toes are is too low so it was pressing down on my toes. 3. The cushioning at the toes runs out too early so your toes are only supported by a thin rubber membrane. Ouch, ouch, ouch. They are not as cushoning as the original Levitate. And finally, ankle support. The material at the heel is prohylactically thin. There is no support for the ankle at all. What a disaster. These clearly were not designed for human feet. The original Levitate was an expensive snealer (~ $150) but Levitate 4 are ~ $110. I can see each and every spot where money was saved. And each of these savings came at the cost of comfort, wearability, cushiion and function. Give these a miss. They will hurt your feet and won't fit. Utter rubbish. ... show more

  • Blisters!!
Size: 11.5 Color: Red/Cherry Tomato/White
I have been wearing Asics for years and decided to try these Brooks out. I regretted it after my first 100 yards. I tried to relace them over and over to fix the heal slippage that was occurring. I was not in luck. By mile 2 I could feel the blister forming. After 6 miles I was not happy with the shoes. After a couple more days I gave them another shot trying again to correct the issue by adjusting the laces. No luck the second time either. If you enjoy blisters on your heals, these are the shoes for you. I heard nothing but great feedback on Brooks in the past, so I gave them a try. Maybe it is just this product line? ... show more
