  • Most. Comfortable. Shoe. Ever.
Size: 12.5 Wide Color: Black/Atomic Blue/Jasmine
The cushioning is a dream. And the sizing runs true, with half sizes in large, as well, as small, and wide options, so I was at last able to order to perfect shoe for my foot (12.5 W). But the cushioning? Man! Good for walking as well as running. (I unwisely let doctors dig into my knee with their arthroscopic "lets destroy his knee" surgery, and after a couple of decades, even walking is still painful. About the only really usable surface for me was an indoor carpet with thick padding, or a nice wood-chip covered path. For quite a while now, I've been searching for thick indoor carpet I could put under my feet and take with me. This shoe is it! Walking is already supremely comfortable. Now for some "short sprint interval training" (SSIT) to rebuild the spring in my legs so I can get back to running! ... show more

  • Early review! First impressions
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Black/Black/Ebony
First impressions of these Brooks shoes, they look great in person! Although it’s a wide wear it doesn’t have that awkward super large look that some wide wear shoes can have. • I used this for a few hours yesterday to run errands and they were super comfortable! • Now comes the real test today when I wear them for work, I’m casino dealer which means I’m on my feet all day, constantly moving side to side and walking around. I will comeback for multiple updates one after my first day at work, then maybe a month or two from now. I’ve wanted to try Brooks for quite some time, but price point kept me away glad I found these at $99. •July 29th, 2004 UPDATE: I wore these for a full week at work. - These shoes are so comfortable they don’t even require a break in period. The cushions inside are extremely high quality. I typically wear copper fit compression ankle/foot support with socks while at work to prevent foot pain, however with these shoes I cannot because having both on squeezes my pinky toe too much which got annoying. I omitted the copper fit sleeve and wore only socks no more toe pain and still a very comfortable wear with 8 hours on my feet moving around constantly. • I will be buying more Brooks shoes I think I may size up to 4E to see if the toe box is a bit wider, without having the shoe look bulky. I honestly love these so far. ... show more

  • This Shoe Is a Winner!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: White/Oyster/Metallic Silver
I have been wearing Brooks Ghost shoes for the last few years as I find them to be the “best” for working out (slow jog/fast walking). I was ready to buy my new pair, Ghost 16’s but came across their “Max” shoe. I was on the fence about buying this shoe due to the thickness of the sole. I tried Hoka One shoes after reading so many positive reviews about them but I wound up hating them because A) the were way to “squishy” and felt like you were waking on pillows. B) the arches of my feet became very painful. However, given my good history with Brooks I decided to give them a try. Well, I can’t say enough how much I love these shoes! Yes, the soles are thick, but they are firm. Not too firm and not too soft…perfect. I have no arch pain and I feel like I’m wearing the most comfortable shoe every made. I’ve done about 5 workouts since I got them and no longer feel any post workout knee soreness either. The Max shoe will be my every day workout shoe from this point forward for sure! By the way, if you are on the short side like me, the extra sole thickness will make you feel a bit taller too 😊. ... show more

  • Great running shoes (Extra Wide)
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Black/Atomic Blue/Jasmine
Finally I found a great pair of running shoes for wide feet. I've work New Balance, Asics and Brooks recently and this is the first pair that feel comfortable in the front third of the shoe for me. I run about 3 - 4 miles (treadmill) a day and love these. I ordered a second pair - just wish they had more choices of colors for the extra wide size (black or black with jasmine? Really?). The fit is great and they are amazingly comfortable when running. Overall, if you have wide feet, I highly recommend these. ... show more

  • One of the few wide size fit options I've found that are actually wide enough
After moving to Florida I went 2 decades without owning a pair of sneakers. Basically was just crocs for work and slide on sandals for everything else. Now in my 40s I got serious about walk/jogging a few pavement miles every day to help keep my body more active and the lbs off. Which early on proved to essentially require some adequate footwear if I didn't want my feet and shins to constantly be suffering. Always had bigger sized feet growing up, but nothing crazy (I'm a us12). Never had nearly the problem then of pretty much every one of these more expensive name brands I was trying on today feeling way too tight. Many which offer W or 2xW options that didn't actually feel that much wider. Now maybe super snug fits is just more a thing people want in this running shoes these days, but that isn't *I* was after. Initially went down the alternative rabbit hole of "barefoot" shoes that seemed to offer legitimate wider fit options. That worked ok for a while, but a need for a little more actual support/cushion then what they offer eventually became apparent. Moved on to *the* wide fit specialist Altra branded shoes from there. Their 2+ generation back models were great for wide fits ( I was a big fan of the Torin 5. Terrible front stitching design tho). Then they sold the company, and the previous terrible durability value I had already been gritting my teeth about got a lot worse. As did the fit of their shoes which completely re-did their sizing model and left everything with a snugger then before fit. Having tired of buying $150+ shoes that I'd literally expect to sport a hole in the front by the end of the first month, I went on a full blown try everything search this last time. Tried on every option the few specialty running stores near me had to offer. Bought and returned various options online that those local stores didn't have in stock to fill in the gaps. After much try and fail, I landed on these. Bought a .5 size up, and the X-Wide. 25 miles in now. Cushion feels good (i'm a heel striker fwtw). Not "perfect" on the fit, but it's not suffocating my foot by any stretch and the X-Wide option on *this* specific shoe actually made the comfort difference pretty much every other brand didn't (that also includes Brooks' other model shoes btw) Totally get most are going to TLDR this review lol. But I at least wanted to put it out there to potentially help anybody that finds themselves in a similar dilemma and is looking for that type of feedback focus I had a hard time finding myself. ... show more
