I was running in an Asics Novablast 5 and although it had good cushioning, it was very clunky. When running it was like, heel strike, clunk and mid foot. The Brooks Ghost 17 is so smooth. It transitions from a mild heel strike to a smooth mid foot and launch. It feels like the difference between a cheap Japanese car and luxury sports car. It’s very comfortable and in control. Its true to size. The cushion is just right for walking, a slow jog or a fast run. You don’t feel bogged down by too much cushion or weight. I had been using the New Balance 1080 V10 as my go to walking shoe and after 5 years, it was time to replace them. After researching, I selected the Brooks Ghost 17, and I am thoroughly pleased. Here are my observations: - Light; however, very support, especially in the heel and arch area. - extremely comfortable, and excellent cushion when walking without compromising stability. - I ordered 13W and the fit is as expected. - The sole has a nice pattern for excellent grip. Amazing shoe. I ordered a regular and wide shoe and wide was definitely more comfortable. Brooks like other running shoes tend to run more narrow. Keep this in mind if you like having space for your toes. The shoe is super bouncy and feels like it propels you forward when running. Also very comfortable to stand in place with. It is breathable but the fabric is thick too so you know it will last. The colors really pop, however the top will get dirty easily so get a darker color if you care about that. ... show more

These shoes are comfortable, great for walking or running. Very supportive. Fits true to size. They would be 5 stars but the soles do tend to wear fast. I’m on 4 months of wearwith heavy walking about 3-5 miles a day for work and there is noticeable wear on the outside part of the sole where your last three toes would be putting pressure on the ground! ... show more

These shoes got me running again, no cap. I don’t know what kind of magic they put in them, but the second I laced them up it was like my feet remembered they’re actually allowed to enjoy life. Super comfortable right out the box—no “break-in period of suffering” nonsense. They’re cushioned but still sturdy, so it feels like you’re getting bounce without wobble. Like soft landing, strong push-off energy every step. Long runs, quick jogs, even just errands turning into accidental cardio… they handle it all. My feet don’t feel wrecked after, which is honestly the biggest win. Bottom line: they’re back-in-the-running-game shoes. This is my 3rd pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes over the past 10 years and they keep getting better. The Ghost 17 is comfortable straight out of the box - no break-in period needed. The cushioning is plush but still responsive, the neutral support is exactly what my feet need, and the fit is true to size. Great for daily runs, long miles, and even all-day wear when I'm on my feet. Brooks has nailed the consistency: every pair I've bought has held up well through hundreds of miles. I've worn Nike and Reebok for years. Never really bothered with a different brand unless it was work related. Just stuck with what I knew. Well Nike is so dang hit or miss for a wider shoe I decided what the hell gonna give Brooks a try. For one I love how lightweight these are! I get the extra wide and my foot fits easily, almost think I should of just went with wide, but I can handle this. They're not far off from price from Nike's shoes. They are incredible to walk in, my feet feel stable and don't throb by the time I'm done wearing them. Love the feel of them so much I went to Scheels and bought another pair so I have one strictly for the treadmill at home and one for running around outside. ... show more
