These are Brooks' foray into maximalist shoes. I assume Brooks did this to keep up with brands like Hoka, Topo, Altra, etc. I have owned all three previously mentioned brands. They're good in their own way however, I think Brooks, being a legacy company, really knows how to make a shoe. Their quality and durability has been better than Topo. And they probably have better longevity than Hoka and Altra as well although, I can't say for sure yet. The cushioning is extraordinary. These feel more cushioned than my Topo Ultraventure 4's. And they feel more stable and have better traction. I decided to use my Topo's as daily shoes. Now, my serious trail running shoes are either Brooks Cascadia 17's or Brooks Caldera 8's. I took them on a run and they're cushioning is superb and perfectly bouncy. Brooks is the way to go for real trail performance. ... show more

Shoes are extremely comfortable and make a huge difference in the way my feet feel in the morning. I wish they lasted longer though!!! I get about 4 months out of them before they start self destructing. I also know when it’s time to replace as my feet hurt in the morning. I work on my feet about 6 hours a day and I wear them daily at work. So for 6hrs a day wear and Mon-Fri I get about 4 months of use! Now that’s just when I feel they need to be replaced, but they can be worn still but I feel the difference in comfortability and that’s when I replace cause my feet are my world! But overall great looking shoe and worth the $$$ ... show more

I got these in 10.5 US mens, which is what I normally run in. Gave these a shot on two nine mile trail runs. Length wise these fit great. Had almost a full thumbs width of space in front of my toes. However, it's narrow, combined with the materials having no give, so unless you have skinnier than normal feet this will rub and pinch uncomfortably. For comparision value, I also run in the La Sportiva Prodigio, which is pretty narrow but because of softer fabrics in the upper gives a more glovelike fit that doesn't hurt. The insole and foam underfoot was also rock hard, by the time I was done with the second run the ball of my foot, heel and the entire outer edge of my foot running from heel to toe felt bruised. They had great traction on wet dirt and leaves, no heel slipping or stability issues, but the fit itself was so uncomfortable and painful I can't recommend it. ... show more
