  • Comfortable, Cushioned and Stylish
Size: 10 Color: Ebony/Blue Sapphire/Orange
I'm on a never ending search for cushioned running shoes. I had been wearing NB trail running shoes until recently when they have become un available. I find these Brooks shoes to be very good. They are not quite as cushioned as the NB (more than adequate), but they have a "lower" foot bed or sole which I'm finding I like, less chance of turning my ankle. They run a little small I ordered a half size larger. I use them for walking and working around the yard. Happy with the switch to Brooks. ... show more

  • Compared new balance hierro 8 and brooks cladera 7
I recently took a trip to Yosemite and took both Brooks Caldera 7 and New Balance Hierro 8. The new balance are softer and more flexible but do not have the traction that the caldera has. The caldera was comfortable but a bit more rigid with a thicker sole and they propel you forward. Also The caldera had much better traction on wet and dry surfaces. The hierro wasnt as good on the wet surfaces but good on the rocks. I like both brands for different reasons. I see they have a ghost 17 off road and eventually I will purchase those to review. I hope this helps ... show more

  • Great shoes and excellent value.
Size: 9.5 Color: White Sand/Chateau Gray/Yellow
This is my second pair of the Brooks Trail shoes series. At 64 I do a 5K walk 6 days per week. You don’t have to run if you want to preserve your knees and ankles for later. 😀 I have found that Brooks hold their support as well as other brands at a higher cost. The key is to only use them for exercise purposes and not for fashion. Very happy with the toe box width and laces that never come untied. Happy consumer. ... show more

  • Great Trail Shoe
Size: 12 Color: Lemon Chrome/Black/Springbud
I've become a big fan of these shoes. I tried the Caldera 6. They were okay, but felt heavy/clunky. Even though this is still a large shoe, it has a different feel. Plenty of cushion and padding, but I still have a good feel/sense of the ground (proprioception). I've used these in distances up to 50 miles without any issues. They are comfortable and don't move around a lot on my foot. New favorite trail shoes. ... show more

  • Not for me, runs small, strange fit/cushion
Size: 11 Color: Ebony/Blue Sapphire/Orange
I liked the idea of a wide based trail shoe but as others have said, they fit strangely. Also, I normally wear a size 11 in brooks and these were cramming my great toe. The cushioning is odd and almost lumpy under your foot. I do have rather flat feet with one fallen arch and the other flexible flat so finding comfortable shoes is tricky. The wide base did feel somewhat supportive and the shoe was plenty wide, close to a 2E I'd say. Again, didn't work for my disfigured feet but clearly does for others. ... show more

  • Hundreds of miles later… Hundreds of miles later…
Size: 9 Color: White Sand/Chateau Gray/Yellow
Yosemite… Arches… Bryce Canyon… Druid Arch… just some of the places these invaluable shoes have taken me. Before these, I was using high ankle boots that didn’t support my whole foot or have much cushion. I thought these would be less stable because of the low ankle cut, but no, they’re perfect. Now I understand the importance of foot stability when hiking. The traction is unbeatable. I never think twice if I can take a step. No matter the grade, terrain, wet or dry, the grip on these are insane. 100% trustworthy. I have climbed thousands of feet of elevation and only had slippage one time, and I just lowered my center of gravity to fix it. This shoe leaves others in the dust, literally. The only downside to these shoes is the airy mesh that lets sand come in, but only on pure sand trails. And hard to imagine any hiking shoe that could fully avoid that issue. I seriously can’t say enough good stuff about these gamechanging shoes. I’m so glad I bought them on a whim. I won’t go on any trail without them and after a few hundred miles they’re still as strong and sturdy as day one. Brooks last a long time and these should too. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Excellent Trail Shoe
Size: 8.5 Color: White Sand/Chateau Gray/Yellow
I hadn’t loved the fit of Brooks running shoes on my feet so wasn’t sure how’d I’d feel about these, but they are exceptional in every way. Super cushioned but with solid stability due to the wide sole. They are fabulous for running but I would also recommend them for hiking and general walking shoes too. I’ve not tried the Caldera 8, which has replaced these, but I hope they’ve not strayed too far from the 7 because it’s a fantastic trail shoe. ... show more
