I bought a pair of Asics this past fall and within a month or so I started having heel pain. I did not attribute it to my shoes. Fast forward 6 months later and I'm in a podiatrist office having x-rays for a potential bone spur. I was pretty much in constant pain, limping, etc. It would even wake me up at night hurting. Well, as it turns out, according to the doctor, it is a formb of tendonitis that doesn't affect your arch- just the heel and up the inside of your ankle. So, a cortisone shot plus a new pair of Brooks has me walking more comfortably than I have even before the heel problem showed up. I'm 52 and have always wanted to be a runner but because it hurts my hips I have never been able to do it. However, I have kept trying over the years and decided it was now or never. Hip hurts every single time. It never occurred to me that it wasn't my hip but the shoes I was wearing. I bought these shoes after getting advice from a close friend who is a long distance runner. Brooks running shoes were recommended to me by a coworker at a scrub sale. Bought a pair and proceed to wear only those shoes for 12 hour shifts for over years, at which time my rabbit ate one. For several years I've rotated many different shoes. They are comfy initially, but break down so quickly. Feet in general and arthritic toes very unhappy. Don't know why I waited this long to order these shoes. Punishing myself apparently. They feel wonderful. I'm giddy. I've tried countless athletic and nursing shoes during my 40+ years in healthcare. So comfortable! Got them for a trip to Puerto Rico and Caribbean cruise! We did a lot of walking as well as some hiking! My feet never ever started hurting! But the best part, and reason I bought them was for my back. If I do a lot of walking, standing etc, for long periods, my lower back usually starts killing me! With these, I never had an issue! I researched online, what shoes would be good for delivery drivers. I couldn't come up with a category that really fit this. So started looking at runners reviews. As my daily activities are more physical and up and down. A runner who is also a reviewer tried several different brands, from a variety of price points. These were in the lower to mid price range, and I thought I'd give them a shot. I was not disappointed. They didn't cause blisters, but my shoes for crews did. Plenty of room for my toes to move without discomfort. They are extremely lightweight and the soles(though marked as neutral) are actually very bouncy and supportive. I was a long time fan of Aasics for a very long time. Last pair I purchased was the GT 2000. Well the quality went down hill so I did some research and Brooks really had outstanding reviews. Got my pair a couple weeks ago and now I am hooked. So comfortable! Most shoes are so narrow and when I tried wide width it way too wide. But these shoes fit perfectly. And the quality of the material and design are wonderful and impressive. I will be a devoted customer as long as they keep up with the quality. I have been trying to find a replacement for my past brooks glycerin or ghost which are wide and it is now not easy to find a "pretty' shoe or the white ones. So I purchased medium ghosts and found that if i wear a thinner sock they are perfect. Perhaps not as cushioned as the glycerines, but the are great! ... show more
