  • A comfortable walking shoe at an amazingly low price.
Size: 13 Wide Color: Black
Great walking shoes for this price! I wish that they made it in a size 12.5, but I had to upsize to 13. They are very comfortable and have no heel slip or pinch points on my feet. They aren't highly cushioned, more in the moderate range, and the midsole is on the firmer side, but that often means that they will last longer without flattening out. The insoles are pretty basic, without much arch support, but to be expected at this price. They seem well constructed and have more outsole material (no protruding midsole foam without being covered by any outsole like many brands do) so hopefully the outsole will also last pretty long. There's plenty of flat outsole material left even after the lugs wear down, though they won't grip well on snow or mud once that happens. They have a 10mm heel to toe 'drop', which is not too much or too little for most people, and the wide toe box is comfortable and helps with my Morton's neuroma foot pain. The laces are fairly thick and with a 'cottony' texture, which makes them difficult to pull through the eyelets, which have to be tightened one eyelet at a time from to bottom to the top the first time you wear them as you can't just pull the laces tight from the top. Once that's done, you only need to tighten and loosen the top 3 eyelets to get in and out from then on, and these laces actually stay tied with a single knot, unlike most other hiking or running shoes that I own, which have thinner and more slippery laces and must be double-knotted. ... show more

  • Great looking. Fits my mom comfortably despite her hammer toe
Since there are few other options for attractive general purpose sneakers in a variety of nice colors for people who require a truly wide toe box, these get five stars. My elderly mom can only wear a few styles of certain brands of sneakers (Altras, Asics, Brooks, Hoka) owing to her hammer toe, but she frequently finds that the latest versions of the styles that used to have reliably wide toe boxes are now too narrow. The styles she can find are generally three to four times the retail cost of the $41 Bronax (aside from the Asics Contend). My mother is on a fixed income so she waits for these other sneakers to go on sale and then usually has to settle for a color she doesn't prefer whereas the Bronax come in several nice and coordinatable colors that are affordable at full price; (the red is just as lovely and vibrant as in the pictures and she likes that the black have black soles as she can even wear them with dressier clothes to the theater since they don't call attention to themselves. She usually wears these shoes for walks around the neighborhood, stair climbing, recumbent bike riding, and her PT sessions, etc. She says they have decent cushioning with not much stability (although not terribly unsupportive), they are made for a neutral foot/heel. I bought her spenco insoles to offer a bit more cushioning and support. She would prefer a slightly more padded tongue but she says it's not a deal-breaker by any means, but if the company is reading, she hopes a new version will include a thicker tongue. The tread is decently grippy. I think the take-away is that these look pretty great, are pretty cheap, and are pretty comfortable for general use and they are decently manufactured while offering a wide toe box. Somehow the curvature around the toe doesn't appear as bulbous as most Altra styles. One side note: Of course Altras are better made, but one thing about the two styles she has of Altras is that the heel collar is very low so the sneakers don't go up to the ankle, which makes them a little annoying to pull on. The Bronax have a more normal height of heel collar and are easier to get into. Finally, she wears a 41 in these (size 8 wide). She wears a 41 in the hammer toe-friendly Brooks Addiction and Asics Contends whereas she wears a 42 in Altra Paradigm, if this helps you figure out your size (I mention the EU sizes since she sometimes buys womens and sometimes mens in those styles). ... show more

  • Great shoe!
Size: 7 Wide Color: Black
Great wide toe box shoe! My son loves these. They are comfortable and have good wiggle room. The shoe laces have been a bit of an issue: too long and have frayed easily. Those are easily replaced though. Overall, very happy with these shoes. Great for the price which is super nice when my son is growing quickly! ... show more

  • Great For My Neuropathy And For All Occasions Great For My Neuropathy And For All Occasions
Size: 12 Wide Color: Black
A quality item at a reasonable price...more than that ...I bought them seeking relief for foot neuropathy pain ....and I can tell from the first time I put these shoes on, they are going to do an excellent job for me. Plenty of room in the toe box for my toes to flay naturally and not to be compressed uncomfortably. These will be my personal shoes for all occasions, casual, business and religious.....all occasions, bar none. Well done is what I say to the manufacturer. Great service is what I say to Amazon. Happy camper today. Sole thickness is great, arch support could use a little boost but I have insoles for that ....comfort is unimpeachable....so glad I found them. ... show more

  • Indepth Review and Comparison Indepth Review and Comparison
Size: 8 Wide Color: Blue
I have been looking for a decent pair of wide toe box, zero drop shoes. It is not as easy as one might imagine. My tried and true brand is declining dramatically in quality and I have stopped buying their shoes. I tend to be active and walk 5-7 miles a day with a 30 lb weighted vest and ankle weights. I am hard on athletic shoes. I am comparing this Bronax navy colored shoe to the Whitin grey wide toe box shoe. I am a woman and wear a size 41. This Bronax is a man's shoe. Comfort - 5/5 I am pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the Bronax shoes. As you can see from the pics they have more cushion than Whitin. The tongue is long enough to be comfortable as it is not jabbing into the front of my ankle. Sizing - 5/5 After trying 20 different pair of shoes (that was a fun return) I was pleased that the Bronax sizing was fairly accurate. I wear a 41 and it felt like a 41. Even well known brands seems off on their sizing these days. Height - 5/5 As you can see from the pics with the measuring tape the Bronax is a higher shoe. Partly due to cushion but the fabric portion is also more substantial. Style - 5/5 The Bronax just looks nice and like a quality shoe. Price- 5/5 Nice bang for the buck at $45. Durability - ? I don't know. Will update this review when I know more. Whitin/Bronax The Bronax is a more substantive shoe and feels like it might take a beating over time and not fall apart. The Whitin is more minimalist. Comfortable but less cushion and the cushion is more rigid. I personally like this for certain situations. There is 1 issue with Whitin that is odd. It feels like the cushion is not one flat piece but has holes (to reduce materials needed) and I can sort of feel the holes. It's not dramatic but might be after a few miles of walking. I will try one of my i soles and see if that helps. I didn't have this experience with Bronax. In the end I might keep both shoes. But if I could only have 1 shoe I would keep the Bronax. I really applaud Bronax for creating a good wide tox box zero drop shoe. Clearly it's not easy as I tried 20 different companies which included some well known brands. The more well known brands are increasing in price and declining in quality which makes room for a company like Bronax. Let's hope they keep making good shoes!! ... show more

  • Promising if Bromax improves the design
I usually wear Altra shoes but they are expensive, very poor quality and have been getting narrow. I tried these shoes as an alternative and was impressed. They are much better than I expected. Pros: 1. They are wide in the toe box though the shape could be improved. Most people looking for wide shoes need the most width at the ball of the foot. The Bronax sole is uniformly wide, not a little wider at the ball. This makes them seem less comfortable than the Altra Lone Peak Wide. They are more comfortable than any other Altra shoe I have tried though so this is impressive. I hope Bronax continues to refine their width. 2. The upper seems relatively well built. I have worn them for a few weeks so far and they seem much more durable than Altras. No noticeable wear and the glue does not seem to be delaminating. 3. The soles are very sticky, good traction. Again much better than Altra's. Cons: 1. The fit needs to be slightly wider in at the ball of the foot. 2. The soles are wearing out much quicker than I would like and is the only aspect of the shoe that seems lower quality than Altras (and Altra's have very poor durability in all areas). I hope Bronax upgrades to a more durable but sticky rubber compound. 3. It does not come in a trail running version (more aggressive tread). Overall I am impressed with these shoes and with a few slight changes they will easily be superior to the much more expensive Altra shoes. I will update this review as I get more miles on them. I am very hopeful these could be my new favorite shoes in time. For now I will use them and Altras depending on what I am doing. I give them only 3 stars mostly due to the high sole wear and the sole shape at the ball of the foot. Also, these shoes are MUCH better quality and more comfortable than the Whitin shoes I tried which were junk. ... show more

  • Better than Sketchers
Size: 8.5 Wide Color: Blue
I like these better than sketchers because of the rounded toe. Both Sketchers and Bronax are wide on the sides, but these have extra room in the toe due to the soundness. Additionally, these are lightweight and really comfortable.
