  • Great bang for the buck
This review is for the Bris 14' kayak boat. First things first. The vendor "Benflyworld" has been great. They are very responsive and were a pleasure to work with. I selected the Bris boat over its main competitors because it has two air chambers per side-tube (each filled to 3psi), is wider overall, uses larger diameter tubes, and is less expensive. These are important factors to me because I use the boat on the Chesapeak Bay, which can be rough at times. The boat arrived quickly and included a bag, foot pump, oars etc. The material is typical for inflatable boats of this size that include a built-in transom. The material seems plenty tough and I pulled the boat up on the pebbled beach without fear. Using a four stroke Tohatsu 5 hp engine, the boat planes easily, even with another adult onboard. It moves supprisingly fast with little hp and I could cruise fine at half throttle. At rest, on calm water, it is stable enough to "carefully" stand up. However, I would not stand up in rough water or when underway. The air floor is pretty solid (filled to 8psi), but does give, and you will feel it ripple and move with the rough water underneath when you are moving across the water. I quickly got used to it though. Although a stable boat for its size, you still need to be careful about turns when going at higher speeds (it can become a little squirely). Workmanship on the boat is decent and it held air fine. Unfortunately, my 2-part oars fit too snuggly together and I can't sepporate them (they are plenty heavy duty). When rolled up, the boat is a little larger then I expected. It took some practice to roll it up smaller (even a little smaller makes a big difference when trying to carry). Inflated, the boat is heavy, but I can manage to carry it "short" distances by myself. (I will be purchasing kayak wheels soon to address that). As others have said, the bag isn't great. The handles on the carry bag are worthless, so I replaced them with 2 heavy duty straps wrapped around the original bag. I also purchased an electric air pump (for me, the foot pump just takes too long) Overall, I love the boat and I will try to do a video review later with some tips and tricks. ... show more

  • Well made, great features, hand signed certificate shows proud workmanship. Well made, great features, hand signed certificate shows proud workmanship.
(FIRST IMPRESSIONS ONLY: MY BOAT HAS NOT BEEN IN WATER YET. ) This boat straight out of the box looks and feels to be of very high quality (picture is not fully inflated boat). Attention to detail caught my eye. Inflates/deflates very quickly with quick connect 1 way valves and the manual pump hose fits into a standard air mattress type pump. Foot pump that came with it was not tried but looks to be well made. Thick tough ropes on sides and well placed handles around. Transom is much thicker and sturdier than expected. 1 way water release valve also a very nice addition. With safety in mind the floor piece is separate and inflates as well as 4 separate chambers for the pontoons. Almost impossible to fully sink this boat if punctured. Carry Bag in most reviews shows to be crap, the newer models may have addressed this as my boat deflated rolled up wrapped in carry back and lifted it alone (fairly heavy but easily lifted by 1 man, im a little dude too) with no issues at all (again this is first impressions). MY FAVORITE PART out of everything this boat came with is the certificate in the picture. It was filled out and signed by hand a VERY good indication that the makers are proud of their work. Crappy throw away junk never comes with a signature, they tend to know its junk and want to distance themselves. ... show more

  • Great Value Overall
I've had this boat on the water 5 times now paired with a 2.5 HP Suzuki outboard. Terrific value considering the price. Stability is good and I am able to stand in flat waters on the air floor. Build quality is acceptable. I noticed excess adhesive around some of the seams straight out of the box. I inflate/deflate every time I use the boat, and one of PVC triangles at the transom is already starting to detach. I also had to patch 2 small tears on the starboard side after I rubbed a little too hard against a floating dock. Repair process with the included kit is pretty quick and easy. Easy to inflate with the included bellow pump, but I would recommend getting a double action pump. Electric 2 stage pumps are loud, expensive, and take longer than a manual pump. Not for me. Lastly, if you are going out by yourself most of the time, get the 12ft Bris. I wanted the 14ft with the extra weight capacity to bring passengers out, but most of the time I find myself going out to explore alone. It's not heavy at about 70 pounds, but it IS awkward to handle and launch a 70 pound 14 ft inflatable by yourself. Great first boat, great cheap way to get on the water. Just buy it. ... show more

  • Tough, practical boat
I bought two 14 footers and another 12 footer (BRIS) for a work project that entails working on streams in the U.S. Rocky Mountain West. We've used these boats on a wide variety of stream sizes, and have put about 150 river miles on them. I'd recommend them as a great all around boat. We've used them with 2.5 HP gas outboard motors (15 inch shaft) and also with Newport Kayak motors (24 inch shaft, I think). We've also used them without any motor and just done some semi-technical floating. The boats are light enough for two people to carry. Zero patches so far. I like the upright sitting position of the seats - very nice for getting in, getting out, and seeing down into the water. The floors have taken a beating with no ill effects and have proven to me that a drop stitch floor is a nice weight/stability compromise in an inflatable. The foot pump doesn't look special but works very well. We've used the 12 footer as a 1-person + gear outfit; the 14s have fit two guys and their gear. Negatives: The oars might seem kind of cheap and lame when you first start using them (especially if compared to oaring a framed boat), but you get used to them and the boat handles surprisingly well on rivers. The seats slip out on occasion. The raised keel will get you all kinds of pushed around if it's windy and you're not using a motor. The front straps suck for carrying and will come untied or break sooner than you want them to. ... show more

  • Great inflatable boat to take on the go! Great inflatable boat to take on the go!
I've had a 12' PVC inflatable boat before but first time buying a 14' "Kaboat". Did lots of research and settled on this for the following reasons: -price, can't beat it for whats included -storage: I keep wrapped up strapped to a dolly to easily move around, minimal space in the garage taken -slim profile, reduces drag in the water if using a trolling motor -bimini top option, life saver in the sun! -nice oars with hinge system to row easily if need be Things to consider before buying: -MOTOR: I went with a 55lb thrust trolling motor b/c I was tired of dealing with gas and gas storage. May change my mind later but it's plenty of power to just get out on the water and get a breeze. Plus it's lighter weight and easier packing -BATTERY: if going electric, consider a 100ah deep cycle lithium phosphate battery. That will get you almost 2 hours at high speed on the water. A lot of trolling motors have a voltmeter("battery gauge") on them but that is useless with a lithium battery because the voltage stays constant until the end...don't want to think you have 100% and just quit leaving you stranded! Don't get lead acid (traditional deep cycle batteries), they're heavy as hell and don't last as many years. Lithium Phosphate are about the 1/3 of the weight and size for the same power...albeit ~2x more expensive. -WHEELS: I have kayak wheels that work fine on this due to the narrow profile -BIMINI TOP: This makes the kaboat at least 30% more enjoyable in the summer. It doesn't look like it covers much from the pictures but trust me, it gets your upper body out of the sun for a more enjoyable experience. And for ~$120 bucks you can't beat it. I replaced the screw hinges with easy removable pins from Lowe's. -AIR PUMP: Get a 2 state air pump that you can set the psi to. Only inflate each side tube to about 1 psi each, then go back around and inflate to full (3-3.6psi). This helps keep from damaging the separation walls between the tubes on the inside. STORAGE: Do not keep in a hot shed! That destroyed my first PVC boat that I had for a few years. The heat over time will cause the seams to separate. That and mice will eat it up. However, properly stored, even in a garage with reasonable temps, the boat will last for years. The seams, attachments, and transom all look to be of good quality to last if taken care of properly. -REGISTRATION: This does come with a certificate of origin for registration purposes. I painted my reg numbers with stencils and vinyl paint, seems to be holding up. All in all, I put about $1400 for total package with the boat, motor, battery, and battery box. Totally worth it for the hours of enjoyment! ... show more

  • JUST WHAT WE WANTED
It all started last summer when the camper next to us had a Sea Eagle Paddleski kaboat. Having owned a Sea Eagle kayak in the past, we knew what great quality they are, but were dismayed when we checked the price of the Paddleski. Headed to Amazon to check for other options, and they had a bunch of them! But we kept coming back to the Bris 14.1' kaboat, and, after months of studying reviews and comparing all the inflatable boats, we pulled the trigger and ordered this boat for about half the price of the Paddleski. Saw Fedex backing into the driveway and met him with the small hand truck we bought specifically for our new Bris kaboat. The driver put the boat on our hand truck and brought it to our door, and we immediately took it inside and inflated it in the living room (the only room in the house big enough!) It's been sitting there fully inflated for two days, and is holding strong. The prime truck just came and brought the stainless steel screws to attach the dinghy wheeler launch wheels, (also from Amazon). We ordered the Bris canopy when we ordered the boat and installed the bases on the boat today. The boat is very well made and solid, and we really like the height of the benches, 18 inches, comfortable seat height. Can't wait 'til spring so we can try it out. ... show more

  • Very happy so far with purchase (will update if something happens)
Took it out 3 times fishing, A lot of room for two people, and a bunch of fishing gear comfortably. Should be fine to fish 3 people if we get a smaller cooler. I would also take 4 people if I want to just boat around. I have a 6 hp Hangkai motor on its way from China, hopefully it works out. The pump that it comes with is fine, but I just bought an AirHead electric pump that hooks up to the car for cheap. I did a lot of research before buying this Kaboat. It may be the cheaper version of the Saturn one, but it is made with the same materials. Kaboats are great boats because they are long and narrow like a kayak giving it plenty of speed with a small motor, while also giving the stability of an inflatable. Just in case you encounter the "problem" I had. The air valve system's closing mechanism works from air. As in, if the chamber or air floor doesn't have the correct psi, it wont close when you unplug the pump. Leaving air leaking out until you close it manually. My problem was that I wasn't inflating the air floor to the high psi it requires to close the valve. (Keep using the pump until it wont go any further) Happy customer. ... show more

  • Get and electric leaf blower!
Great boat! I order a seamax trolling motor for the rear and this thing MOVES. Great amount of space to hold gear and the boat is very sturdy! Highly encourage anyone to buy if they are looking for a boat they don't wanna pay winter storage for. Ive had row boats and such but you always had a hard time storing them. This folds up nicely and I can put it away in a corner with no problem! Get an electric leaf blower to fill the tubes!! So much quicker! I top it off with the pump after I get the majority of it filled up. Literally had it set to go on the water in 10min. I ordered the ENZOO leaf blower. It's compact and worked really well to inflate. You don't have to worry about over inflating either with the leaf blower, they are made to create volume, not pressure. Mine takes it to 1psi and then can't fill any further. Then I just hook up the hand pump and top them off. Works great! ... show more
