This basic seat clamp is a perfect fit for your average Jon Boats (and standard v-hull) bench to add a more comfortable seat to your boat. It's built very durable and is as easy as it gets to install. The only issue as far as function and how it works that I have with this, (as is the case with most seat clamps) is that if you are heavier or tend to lean back very hard, it is likely to slip off the bench and is a pain to get back on. This can usually be fixed by installing a seat clamp bracket that holds it in place ~ and I don't know why these don't come standard with this type of setup. For the aesthetic, it is subtle and hardly noticable, which is what you want, since you don't want to look at the clamp on your boat if you don't have to. It's a great value, but plan ahead to have a more comfortable ride and get the brackets that screw into the bench and keep this in place. ... show more

Mounting holes for seat won't match up for millennium b-100 seats so be careful when ordering. Seems like a solid unit otherwise. I'll ponder on if I can make this work or return it because I really do like the mount but have to figure out how I'm going to get the holes to line up for mounting my seat. ... show more

    • Works for my unusual needs
I am in the process of building my own kayak and, after looking into a bunch of different seating options, decided it would be more comfortable and quite a bit less expensive to install a DIY padded boat seat than a fancy folding kayak seat. This will work well for my purpose, I like that the base can be extended to match the width of my kayak and provide added stability. I am adding resting points for the legs of the frame and will also strap them to mounting points in the hull with zip ties. As I am making my own seat, the holes in the mounting plate work for me but I note that they do not for other people using stock boat chairs, so that's something to consider. ... show more

Heavy duty and well made. The seat clamp has a gloss black powder coat finish and the brackets are rubber coated to avoid scratchs and provide better friction hold. 20" max so watch that you do not have an extra wide seat. Its swivels nice with a little resistance but I could not see whether it had bearings or a plastic bearing. The included wrench for the wing nuts sent this one over the top for me. Very helpful to have that wrench to help you remove it. ... show more
