The 'Family Echoes Game Cards' half of this set is really rather lackluster, with a basic rehash of dozens of other ice breaker 'games' that really aren't a game, they're just prompts to try and get people to talk. There's no 'game' in it really. The cards themselves are light weight, not the best printing, and over all a yawn. That's too bad, really. On the other hand, the black poker sized playing cards are over qualified to be included with the first set. They're plasticized card stock with an elegant look and feel and a surprisingly tough storage box. They should have been advertised the other way around, with the playing cards first and the ice breaker cards second fiddle and I wish there was a way to get more of the playing card deck!

So the main cards are fine, with good questions, but I'm not gonna lie. I really chose these for the black cards, which didn't disappoint. They are gorgeous. They are pretty SLICK, so be aware of that. The black box is slick too, which makes it hard to keep closed.

These card games have depth, and I really enjoy using them to communicate with my kids at home. It's truly fun. I must also mention that the black playing cards look very exquisite.
