I recently ordered the monster V2 playing cards by Bicycle. I've been playing cards since I was a little girl and anytime I can get a unique deck, I do. These qualify. The art is reminiscent of art you'd see in young adult illustrated books or movies. That doesn''t make these bad. I like the "old school" aesthetic to them. Comes sealed in a semi-rigid plastic cards case. The cards themselves are really neat and fun to play with. IMO the Jokers are the best looking cards. The monsters are only on the royalty cards, but some of them are admittedly goofy looking. I was hoping for something more DnD like, but these are more Halloween like. Still a nice collectable deck and would make a good small gift. ... show more

Firstly, I love that these came in a plastic clamshell to protect them, and I will absolutely be keeping that case to store the deck when not in use so it stays as pristine as possible. Considering this is a limited run, it kind of broke my heart to break the original seal at all... but these were meant to be enjoyed and played with, and they will be. The cards themselves are masterfully designed to look "vintage"-like while being actually brand new and shiny. The air-floating weave texture really does let these shuffle as smooth as butter, and if you're careful I think you could easily use these pretty often without scratching them up from friction. The designs are all absolutely charming, and they even included three of the "Wolfman" in his stages of transformation, just for fun. The gang's all here- Frankenstein, the Vampyr, Martian... The Kraken as the king of clubs is just cool. Jaws might have been more popcorn-horror appropriate, but honestly the Kraken is way cooler, so I'm fine with that one. The human monster hunters as the Jokers, a man and a woman version, are just the cherry on top of this sundae, they might be that little touch which makes this whole thing feel perfect for me! The weight, size, feel and shuffle of these are all top-notch. The added thrill of a limited-print run is fun and adds to the appeal, though makes it a bit sad to open them up and ruin the collectable-factor. I absolutely love these and honestly can't really critique a single thing. Okay, well, the Devil is much more of an "Imp" than a real "Devil", and looks kind of cheesy as the King... but I can forgive that. Overall though, 5-stars! ... show more

These Bicycle Playing Cards MonsterV2: Limited Edition, Custom Artwork Poker Cards Deck, Mythical Creatures Theme, Classic Air-Cushion Finish, Collector's Item, Perfect for Pokeno, Canasta, and Bridge Games come in a protective plastic case, which is a nice bonus. This deck has the expected USPCC-made Bicycle quality. The cards shuffle and deal easily. There is more to this deck than just a custom back. There are custom pips for every suit, custom numbering/lettering, and individual art for the jokers, jacks, queens, kings, and aces. In a neat touch, each suit has a monster-type theme. (Hearts are all undead monsters, for instance.) The jokers are monster hunters, which is fun. Also, instead of the usual gaff cards (rules and social media), two 'transition' cards are included. These show the full werewolf transformation of the King of Spades. With the attention to appearance, it does annoy me that "Premium Playing Cards" was put on the deck box with a san serif font that looks cheap. I think this deck is great for any fan of classic movie-style monsters. ... show more

If you are a collector of odd, exotic, or retro cards, or just an easily distracted (or bored) card player, this is the deck for you. If you like the “classic” monsters, including the wolfman, this is the right deck to add to your collection. When I saw that Bicycle logo on the promotion for this deck, I took a second look. Okay, they added monsters, and now (to quote a true cardsharp) “I am ALL IN!” The bonus cards? In my deck, and I assume this is true for all decks, I have three KINGS (in the spade suit), each of which depicts one part of the werewolf transformation phase: 1) begining to change; 2) hirsuite; 3) full-on classic werewolf of London (or New York). If you use these cards for gaming, you PROBABLY should share there are 7 Kings in the deck, or make Kings wild. The jokers look like lean monster hunters, with no modern weapons on hand. The numbered spades are an eyeball, the other three suit face cards include the Frankenstein monster, the bride, a sea monster, aliens, and other cool monsters. This deck comes in the standard, but very awesome looking, Bicycle cardboard box, but also has a protective plastic clamshell display box. ... show more

    • Great Artwork - 3 King of Spades Cards (Werewolf Transition)
I'm not 100% convinced that this specific deck is an authentic deck because the print isn't nice and crisp. However, maybe it's because it's actually artist's work on the box and cards and it just didn't transfer super crispy. I have other novelty decks by Bicycle, but not an art deck. It's also missing the 2 cards that Bicycle has about rules and linking to their social media - but maybe they are removed because there are 3 King of Spades... Cards are air-cushioned and shuffle well. No complaints on the functionality of the deck itself. You will need to pull 2 King of Spades cards if you are actually playing with the deck. There are 3 included, showing the different werewolf transitions. They are beautiful! Just know that you can't play this right out of the box for most games. There are only 2 Jokers included, so if you needed 4 for some reason, you would just need to designate specific werewolf transitions as the other 2 (and make sure you remember which ones, lol).
