  • Great Jazz Sound!
Size: 5
This is a great jazz mouthpiece. I was using a Selmer S80 C* and just couldn’t really get that full jazz sound. This immediately gave me the responsiveness and full sound I was looking for. I dropped down one reed strength because the lay is more open - and that helped a lot. Perfect upgrade from the stock mouthpiece! ... show more

  • Awesome Mouthpiece
Size: 5
This is an awesome mouthpiece. Was using a standard mouthpiece that came with the sax and switched to the Bettersax Classic. I had purchased the Bettersax soprono Burnin mouthpiece and liked it so much I got one for my BetterSax Alto. Was amazed at how much a mouthpiece could change the sound and ease of playing. ... show more

  • Response
Size: 6
What many newer sax mthpces give is easier response. The mouthpiece I received was a bit stuffy but had a good sound. I would have rated this item 5 stars if it had better response which could be due to an uneven facing. But it does have a great sound or maybe try a different brand of reed. All you can do is try one. ... show more

  • Nice
Size: 5
I bought this for my son after upgrading his sax to match his skills so don’t mind my lack of instrument specific verbiage. With anything it takes time to get use to but there is a noticeable difference particularly with his jazz sound. He’s a teen so to have him say he likes it, other parents you know what I mean, it must be a quality improvement on the playability. Having the skills but not having the sound come out of the original alto and old mouthpiece doesn’t help retain interest for young folks especially if they don’t understand why it’s the instrument and not them. The decision to upgrade is “Better” in this case and has confirmed his “Better” capabilities to perform keeping him focused on success. “Better” to keep youth enjoying practicing and that’s a plus. He’s on an intermediate Yamaha currently rotating between the stock ligature and the really nice Jody Jazz ligature made specifically for this mouthpiece. It’s a great combo. ... show more

  • Nice if you have the right setting to use it in. I don't.
Size: 6
I like Jay's products generally, but this one is a 'meh'. Granted, mouthpiece choices are highly subjective, but this one doesn't project enough to use in a big band, and isn't good for classical. Perhaps in a combo.

  • Worth it
Size: 5
The quality of this mouthpiece is amazing. It is easy to play and the tone is full. I love it so that I’m getting one for my soprano saxophone.

  • Awesome Sax Sound
Size: 5
Love the sound my sax makes after switching to this mouthpiece. I can hear the brightness and sharpness. It sounds like I'm using a microphone even when I'm not using one. I didn't know the right mouthpiece could make such a difference in the sound.

  • Better suited for Jazz environments
Size: 5
Did a comparison with Link's (5, 4*, and metal 6*), old Berg 70/1, Morgan 3C and Meyer 5. Used a '59 Buffet SDA and a '39 Aristocrat. By itself the Better Sax was great, but compared to the above it kind of came in last in obtaining a velvety sound. It came off somewhat brighter which is more Jazz friendly. Maybe a you tube comparison with a good Link (i.e., fixed by a mp tech.) would be good. ... show more
