  • Precisely engineered, but probably overkill for anyone but watchmakers
I am not a watchmaker, so as the title states, this is likely overkill for most folks including myself. That said, there's a degree of precision and craftsmanship in this set of screwdrivers that make the comparatively high price seem quite reasonable. I purchased this at the same time that I picked up a set of bargain screwdrivers ($14), a higher rated set ($40) and this set of Bergeon drivers. Immediately I ended up regretting the bargain set because of the pot metal in the tiniest driver which literally twisted off on first use. This comparison is against the medium priced set and the Bergeon. First point in Bergeon's favor is the superior case. Versus the cheap plastic in the other set, the Bergeons have a wood case with clear markings. The drivers are easy to remove and replace. (See picture). A case alone would not normally change my view of a product, but in this /case/ the ease of storage and usage is a definite factor. Individually, each screwdriver is extremely well designed and made. The swivel action is smooth without any grittiness. I did notice that they squeaked a little which I remedied with a touch of the lightest oil I had available. They are relatively weighty versus the other sets. This is general made it feel higher quality, but I understand is subjective. Overall size of the screwdriver itself is perfect. I did also notice that bits are attracted to magnets. I understand that on watches this could potentially be an issue so keep in mind if doing similar delicate work. My applications are not affected materially by magnetism so did not test further. To the naked eye, except for the weight, there is little distinction between this set and the moderately priced set. That was until I placed them under a microscope. Under magnification, the differences between the grinds were obvious with the Bergeons having a clearly finer finish without any pitting or other defects. Again, this was really only apparent under magnification. The real question is how well they performed. For eyeglasses, the cheapest set would likely suffice. For electronics, the mid-tier set worked really well. Where the Bergeons shined was in the tinier screws around sound sensors, and no doubt, would probably work fine for their intended usage on watches. The axes lined up perfectly so there was no re-adjustment as I turned the screwdriver. To be fair, the mid-priced set was also dead-on/ Ultimately the reason I am giving this set 5 stars is because of the set of replacement bits (4 each) for every size. In my lifetime I will not use all these up. If my livelihood depended on a set of tools, this makes it an easy decision. In summary, these are overkill for the vast majority of use cases. If you do precision work for a living or for a serious hobby, the workmanship of these screwdrivers appear to be worth the investment. I'm happy with them. ... show more

  • Buy once, cry once
Before buying this, I used an inexpensive screwdriver set. It was popular and had zillions of five star reviews. Being made of inferior material, the tips crumbled and damaged the little screws on what had been a beautiful watch bracelet. One thoughtful reviewer mentioned the brand name Bergeon which led me here. I'm so glad they did and thoroughly happy with this purchase. I bought a replacement watch bracelet (which wasn't easy or cheap). I used these screwdrivers and now I have perfect results. You know better than to scrimp on tools. You know the value of what you're working on. If you have high standards, these are the screwdrivers you need - not the cheap ones. By the way, where the description says chromed brass, it refers to the body of the screwdriver. The tips are steel of course and high quality hardened steel. ... show more

  • Great set of watchmaker screwdrivers
Beautifully presented and very nicely made. Costly but having a screwdriver that slips or bends in use costs much more.

  • Great Quality, But Not As Pictured
It’s a Bergeon product, so you can expect good quality. However, be aware that the set you receive won’t match the one in the picture. Instead of a wooden box, it comes in a nice cardboard one. Even with that difference, I still recommend this set.

  • Incredible Quality
These screwdrivers are incredibly well made, very sharp, and very expensive. I've been working on watches for a couple of years as a hobby. At first I got the cheapest possible screwdrivers I could. After stripping a few screws, I realized that the frustration of using cheap screwdrivers is not worth it. I'd recommend these if you're serious at all about working on watches or any other delicate tasks. The spare blades make me think that these will last me a lifetime. ... show more

  • Without a doubt the best watchmaker screwdrivers
From the moment you use these screwdrivers you know they are quality. There is enough variety in the blades that you can find the perfect fit for your watch bracelet screws and avoid slipping and scratching the bracelet. They are expensive but are well worth it if you have enough watches in your collection and opportunities to us them. ... show more

  • Quality
These are a must for anyone that owns a medium to high end timepiece. There comes a point as your watch collection grows, that the cheap screwdrivers are no longer worth the risk of an accidental slip. This Bergeon set is machined perfectly with no grind marks on the tips. This is a 10 piece set ranging from .5 - 3 mm with extra tips and a nice wood box for storage. ... show more

  • Counterfeit? Bergeon Website does not list this stock number
These screwdrivers are listed as made in China. They are identical to several other sets that do not claim to be swiss made or Bergeon. Looking at the Bergeon website it appears that all their tools are made in Switzerland, and a search of the website shows no catalog numbers 55-606 or 30009. Buyer beware. ... show more
