While recently retired I had to wear a tie everyday to work for years and over time I have accumulated a large collection of dress ties. It’s interesting to look through my collection as every few years ties got very wide, then later years got very narrow, but these days it looks like we are back to a nice average width and at 2-3/4” wide this Ben Sherman tie is perfect. While I’m no expert on tie construction, I have learned from the many years of buying and wearing different styles and found that there really is a big difference in a silk tie verses all the other cheap synthetic materials being used today. A silk tie like these 100% silk ties from Ben Sherman just look nicer, sits flat on your dress shirt without wrinkles, makes a nice full knot, and have a nice sheen in any light which makes a silk tie really stand out from all the rest. I have also learned by my mistakes and now make sure the tie is not short to save material, as it’s frustrating to make the perfect tie knot, then look down and see both ends are ending 6” above your belt, instead of touching your belt! I compared the length of my new Ben Sherman tie with all the other ties in my tie rack and found it was equal, or even slightly longer than my other ties. Finally, I found that many cheaply made ties do not have any lining or separate layer of material wrapped by the outer dress material, which makes it almost impossible to form a nice full knot. Not only do these Ben Sherman ties include an inner layer of material, but it is also 100% silk and has been carefully sewed into the tie to help hold the outer dress material in shape without pulling out of shape. I ordered the burgundy color, which matched well with my gray dress shirt and charcoal sports coat which you can see in the photo. Remember when evaluating the color, my shirt is a light shade of gray, not dress white.

This is a designer tie from a reputable brand. 100% silk (not sure, natural or artificial but it doesn't matter). The dots and stripes look elegant and stylish. I like the Burgundy color and subtle patterns give it a nice original touch. The length and thickness are all nice. This will go with multiple different colors of dress shirts and blazers. It is hard to say whether this is good value for money since this is a luxury item and you pay for the quality and brand name. I am happy for my purchase.

This tie is very nice. It looks very classic. Its material is top notch. Looks good and feels good. The length is just right for average height person. Downside is the cost of this tie. It is priced even above some of the designer ties I have seen in the big box stores. If price is not an issue than this tie is a great one to wear and add to your closet.
