  • Never knew a helmet could have this effect on my riding!
Color: Honor Matte Titanium/Black Size: Large
This is a great product in general and a great helmet specifically. I wear full face and sometimes three-quarter helmets but this is my first half-helmet. It's also my sixth try at one of thlis style helmets, the others I can only say looked ridiculous and would try to tear my head off at speed with the wind pushing them up. This one has an occipital adjustment in the back and really clamps it tightly on my noggin when I know I'm going to go 70mph or above. It's also very well made as a Bell product and more aerodynamic. It's just a quality item all around. Now to explain the title of this review. I've been riding for about 3 years now and I've noticed that there's always a trade-off when riding my Harley between "looking cool" and being safe. I mean, let's be honest, maybe not all riders, but a whole lot of cruiser riders got into it not just because they love the feeling, but also because they love the coolness factor. I try to wear the coolest "looking" safe gear including riding pants that look like jeans and very thin jackets or vests with CE armor hidden in them. The thing about this helmet is that it's the first time I've ridden my motorcycle with my actual appearance out in public rather than just a black face or even a handkerchief around my nose and mouth. It's the first time I have really felt like "me" out there on my bike like I do in every other aspect of my life. Is it as safe as my full face? Absolutely not. Is it super cool mostly for around town and does it give a feeling of actually being connected with those around me as I ride and with nature rather than hidden away in a capsule? Oh, yes it does It may sound corny or heavy, but this helmet brought my riding joy to the next level. I can honestly say I get it now. Ride safe, prayers for us all to keep safe but to have fun. ... show more

  • Is this an authentic Bell Pit Boss helmet?
Color: Gloss Black Size: Large
I already own a Bell Pit Boss helmet. My size is large. With this helmet the size seems extremely tight. I looked inside and the tags seems legitimate but the sizing is definitely off. I paid $80 for this helmet, it usually sells for $129.00. Yesterday, I went to Cycle Gear and tried on a Large, Bell Pit Boss and the helmet fit perfectly. I'm seriously questioning if this is a legitimate Bell Pit Boss helmet. I'm sending this back and will just pay the higher price. I enjoy riding long distances, so I'm not going to take any unnecessary risks with my head gear. ... show more

  • terrible 'lift' at anything over 60mph
Color: Matte Black Size: X-Small/Small
I currently use a full face helmet, but in the past I have used a 'lid'. I like the idea of wind in my face, but need ear protection for both engine and wind noise. This helmet was suggested as an option because of the ear covers for protection but with the open face. The helmet is well priced and lightweight, but at anything over 60mph the lift is so bad I was having trouble keeping my eyes on the road. I had incredible neck ache after a few miles from trying to force my head down. If you have a windshield on your bike then this might be alleviated but without one I simply couldn't wear it. I bought the small based on measurements and the helmet sat tight on my head. I'm sure it would have 'settled' had I kept it longer. I found it sat right above my ears and made it difficult to wear any kind of glasses since there wasn't room above my ears, but between the helmet and my head for the glasses arm. Trying to force the glasses in meant I had pain after a few minutes where the helmet pushed the arms against my head. ... show more

  • No mushroom head
Color: Matte Black Size: Large
I'm usually a sportbike girl with a full face helmet and all the protective gear. I finally decided to go back to a cruiser for comfort. I've never been a fan of half helmets. I decided to try this Pit Boss because of all the great reviews. Comfort is great. I love the pockets on the ear pads to hold my communicator speakers. I do feel like a character from A Bug's Life movie with the visor down but I don't have a mushroom head like some half helmets I've tried on. The visor comes down a good amount, covering part of my face as well. It also fits over my glasses. I usually take a MD in helmets but I tried this one in a MD and it was a bit tight around my head and the visor would not come down over my glasses at all. So I'd say these run a bit small. The adjuster at the base of your scull is perfect for getting a snug fit. I don't feel the helmet being lifted at all at highway speeds. Overall I'm very happy with my goofy looking half helmet for warm summer rides. ... show more

  • Half-Shell helmet with drop down sun visor
Color: Gloss Black Size: X-Large/XX-Large
Replacing a 2 year old 'Half-Shell' Pit Boss Open Face helmet due to wear on the matte black coloring and also because the adjustable head band dial broke after 6 months so I ended up using black electrical tape to secure it in the same position for the past 18 months - but I like the helmet so bought the same model only in solid black color this time instead of the matte black - 'Half- Shell' Bell Pit Boss Open-Face Motorcycle Helmet with a drop down sun visor that is actually clear to see thru and not blurry like some others. ... show more

  • Almost Perfect
Color: Matte Black Size: Medium
Pros: This is the comfortable helmet I've owned. The removable ear cover cuts down on wind quite a bit. There is very little lift up at 70+ mph. The flip down visor is very easy to operate, just make sure it is securely snapped in place on both ends. Cons: The matte black finish isn't as durable as I'd like...bugs and small stones chip it off fairly easily. It scratches easily as well. Although the visor is removable it makes the helmet look unfinished because of exposed hardware when removed. The flip down is easily popped out of its mount points if you're not careful. The shield also has a significant amount of distortion just over the left eye. It causes objects to appear to shift at times. ... show more
