  • You will learn a lot
This has become my "go to" magazine for composers, artists, and orchestras. I cannot give you specific examples because there are so many. Let me just say that the review of Ralph Vaughan Williams "The Lark Ascending" was one of the better reviews I have ever read. Features like this make the magazine worth its value. ... show more

  • NO DIGITAL VERSION OF MONTHLY CD WITH KINDLE EDITION
Unlike the digital edition that you get when you subscribe to it directly from the publisher/distributor, the Amazon Kindle Edition does NOT include access to the downloadable/streamable version of the magazine’s monthly CD. I consider this to be a pretty major omission, especially given the relatively small price difference between the two sources. ... show more

  • Problems with Font legibility on Kindle on iPad (but great magazine)
This is a comment on the production side of the digital magazine, and not about the content (which is great btw). Twice now I have tried to subscribe to BBC Music Magazine on the Kindle, but the font issues persist. Each letter (e.g in the articles) have a kind of gray shadow that makes the text illegible. Actually gives me a headache after a few minutes. The photos and ads come out very clear. So I think it’s a text production issue. I’m reading using the Kindle app on a large 11in iPad. I also subscribe to Gramophone, Prog and Rolling Stone (and several other text-heavy magazine) — and these magazines come out ok/legible. So it’s not a Kindle software issue. ... show more

  • Worst Music Magazine
BBC Music Magazine is a joke. It’s basically one big long advertisement for selling CDs and contains TONS of reviews of CDs, as if listening to music is the ONLY thing I want to do. Forget about learning about composers, music theory, and the like. Yes, there are sparse articles about other things besides the latest CD, but the content is usually very simple with no depth. Worst, their subscription service is beyond pathetic. I downloaded past issues I had purchased and just recently went on to read and they were ALL gone, with an error message citing that ‘old issues are deleted when storage space is low’, but my iPad has over 75% space free! Their digital reader crashes regularly and when you click to download a digital copy MOST of the time the button just sits there and spins forever and I DO NOT have problems with downloads ON ANY OTHER Web sites or services. And if you live in the United States, you can forget about getting support, I have called them, emailed them etc... and it’s always “my fault” and they make NO attempt at addressing any of the aforesaid problems. ... show more
