Description

Pound, play, and make the music last all day with the Xylo-Pound Whale from B. toys! This 2-in-1 toy features a whale-inspired pounding bench, a colorful and kid-friendly xylophone, a wooden hammer, and 3 wooden balls. Kids can place the balls in the holes at the top, pound 'em with the hammer, and watch as they roll down on the xylophone. Or if there's a mini musician in the family, they can take out the xylophone and play with it on its own – it's easily removable. Not to mention, this set comes with developmental benefits for toddlers! Little ones can work on their sorting skills by matching each ball to their color-coordinated hole, develop their fine motor skills by pounding the balls and playing the xylophone, and improve their creative skills by making music. And because we at B. keep the environment in mind, parents will also be happy to know that our packaging is recyclable! Recommended for children 12 months and over.

  • Such a great toy!
Very durable toy, the quality is great! And I like the look of it, not too much going on. My child loves to play with it! I also like that the xylophone comes out! It’s like a 2 in 1 type of thing

  • Missing Key Accessory, Wooden Whale Design
The xylophone came with one ball and one hammer, along with the main set, but didn’t come with a smaller accessory to hit the keys. The whale is make of wood, along with the top parts, and the sides are made of plastic.

  • Adorable
Baby was drawn to it immediately. I love that the xylophone can be removed to play with alone. The hammer has a little bit of glue stuck to the handle, which is a tad concerning. Other than that the toy is great!

  • Baby loves it
This toy keeps my little one entertained for quite some time. It looks nice and helps baby learn cause and effect. Minus one start because some of the wooden edges aren’t as smooth as they should be for a baby toy. Overall I would recommend

  • Ideal toy for Activating Senses and Developing Skills for infants
At 11-1/8" Long by 7-7/8" Tall, and 5-1/4" Wide, it is marginally bigger than other versions of this toy that I've encountered. Much of the toy is made from plywood, and the hammer and balls are made from solid wood (painted/finished). The painted/finished surfaces are very smooth, the raw edges are adequately smooth but are certainly rough by comparison to the finished surfaces. The end panels and the ramp that the balls drop down onto are made from plastic, which is also a departure from the other designs of this toy that I've seen. But, I think the plastic ramp is a little bit more quite when the balls drop from above unto the ramp. The balls tap through any of the holes in the top at just the right tension for gentle hammering. As the balls roll down they make a satisfying musical sound as they roll across the xylophone! The xylophone board is removable so the instrument can be used on it's own (just tap directly with the hammer). The keys of the xylophone are made from thickly coated/painted metal, and the posts that hold the keys are plastic. Inserting the xylophone back into the toy is easy, it slides into a pair of grooves in a satisfactory manner! It's a cute toy, and I think this particular toy is wonderful for infants, it activates a variety of senses to help them develop fun and important skills! ... show more

  • Excellent toy for many ages
B. Toys sells this Xylo-Pound Whale short. It may be great for toddlers, but both my 7yo and 10yo enjoyed playing with it for quite some time when we first opened it, and they went back to playing with it several times over the next few days. Even I enjoyed playing with it as an adult. You can pound the balls and make them roll down the xylophone, producing most of its sounds in quick succession. You can also remove the xylophone entirely and play on it directly with the same hammer used for the balls. When not in use, the balls rest in their spots, the xylophone can go back in the bottom, and the hammer stores neatly on the ramp the balls would slide down, so there’s little risk of losing pieces. Furthermore, I wouldn’t claim the xylophone notes are perfectly in tune, but it’s clearly a C-major xylophone. I could play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” on it, which means this little toy packs quite a lot of potential for aspiring young musicians as well. In terms of safety, this toy is very well-designed. The wooden frame is nice with no sharp edges on the tops and sides where a kid might lean into it or fall on it. The hammer for the xylophone has the shortest handles I have seen for a xylophone, making it much more difficult to hit anything with enough force to cause noteworthy harm. If you’re looking at getting a xylophone for a young child with behavioral delays, this may be your best bet. In short, the Xylo-Pound Whale is a very well-designed toy and musical instrument that is fun and has utility for a wide range of ages. ... show more

  • Fun and different!
The media could not be loaded. This is a really cute toy. I think it’s very fairly priced and I like the versatility of it as well. You can take the xylophone out and use it that way, or you can hammer the colored balls through the holes. This makes it something that I believe will be played with for longer than a hot second. Mine did come with some dirt on the sides, but it doesn’t impact its use. Overall I recommend this product and think it’s a great sensory toy as well as cause and effect learning. ... show more

  • Cute entertaining toy
I love the Battat brand, and this Xylo-Pound Whale lives up to the quality and fun I’d expect from this company. The toy is a ball run (three smooth colored wooden balls included) that push through the top and roll down a three-level rack, hitting a built-in xylophone before exiting out the bottom level. You can either push the balls through the holes with your hand or with an included mallet. The xylophone has a handle and can be pulled out, and you can use the mallet to hit the xylophone with. On the side of the toy is a cute smiley whale with stars on it. Overall, the toy is colorful yet simple. It has handles for little ones to easily pick up and moe around. All edges are rounded and safe for babies / toddlers. We have a few 1-year olds who visit, and this toy has been a huge hit (literally!) The little ones don’t get sick of putting the balls through the top and watch them come out the back of the whale. They also love making “music” (adults love that part less!) I would recommend ordering this for a first birthday or holiday present for 1-year olds. It’s fun and a good value. ... show more
