Description

Azul was designed by the world famous, award winning game author Michael Riesling. Azul captures the beautiful aesthetics of Moorish art in a contemporary board game. Players compete as artisans decorating the walls of the royal Palace of Dvora. By carefully drafting the correct Quantity and style of tiles, the most clever of artisans plan ahead to maximize the beauty of their work (not to mention their scores!) while ensuring they wasted no supplies in the process. Introduced by the moors, "azulejos" (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) were fully embraced by the Portuguese, when their King Manuel I, on a visit to the Alhambra Palace in Southern Spain, was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles. The King, awestruck by the interior beauty of the Alhambra, immediately ordered that his own Palace in Portugal be decorated with similar wall tiles. As a tile laying artist, you have been challenged to embellish the walls of the royal Palace of Dvora.

  • Best Family Game!
My brother bought this for my family 2 years ago and we still play it all the time! This is a great game to play as a family, with friends or even with 2 people. There are elements of strategy and luck as you creat your own tile wall to score points. It is easy to learn, fun to play and never gets old! For reference, other games we enjoy are Settlers Of Catan, Ticket To Ride, Jasper, Sequence, Scattegories, Anomia, and of course the classics. We own about 50 board games and this is one of the few we play regularly. ... show more

  • Beautiful tile placement game you can play over and over.
I received the item sealed and in perfect condition. I'm happy with the delivery and packaging. Azul is a beautiful tile placement, pattern building game that is initially not too easy to learn, but easy to pick up. It can take around 20-30 mins per game for 2 players, but I imagine it would take longer and be more challenging for more players. The overall production quality of this game is great. Not particularly sure about the material of the tiles are but they definitely look and feel like actual tiles. There is also a pouch included, but I guess due to the gameplay, I think it would have made perfect sense to have included 2 pouches. ... show more

  • Fun game, once you understand the rules
I learned this game at a gaming event. It took me a full game to really understand what my best strategy could be. The rules could be laid out a tad differently for better understanding, but once you understand how the game is supposed to work, it is easy and great fun. You can mess with your opponents to stop them from progressing, but then that can easily stop you too. Good strategy game. Keeping score is innovative and lets everyone see where they are. ... show more

  • Addicting Fun Game for 2 to 4
Seems hard to learn at first, but one quick round and you’ll have it all figured out. We’ve played with 4 people, but usually only 2 and enjoy playing every time. Well, the loser might say differently. lol If you enjoying playing card or board games, you’ll find this entertaining.

  • Fun game
At first we thought this game would be hard to learn, but it wasn’t. We watched a YouTube video to learn how to play. Any friends that we have had over for game night have ended up ordering the game for themselves.

  • Awesome game!!
My fiancé and most of his friends are mega into games! They’re really smart so sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all the strategic games. This game has the perfect balance of mindless fun mixed with a tiny bit of strategy to help players gain more points. Also the colors are just pretty. Each player is mostly playing against themselves until scoring at the end and aside from other players might take the dice you wanted before your turn. I LOVE this game! Have a blast playing every time! ... show more

  • Recommend watching YouTube how-to
Reading the instructions at first might make this game sound complicated but after watching a how-to on YouTube, you begin to get the hang of it after a few rounds. It was packaged great and delivered on time today and have played four just today. Think I want to collect them all.

  • Fun Game Night
We love this game! We bought Calico before this game but notice they're similar but different enough to enjoy. There are so many possibilities on what to do when you put together your tiles to create a beautiful floor. There isn't a ton of explaining and rules that you have to go through to understand what's going on. ... show more
