It's not brassy; I put it next to some genuine 18K jewelry I own, and it's the same color. So yes, it's a little more "yellow" than 14K gold. I got the 22" length, it's a good size for men with necks and the overall width is substantial and it should be very strong and durable. Nice lobster claw clasp. Very pleased with this for the price. It's stainless steel so it should last quite awhile before the plating eventually wears off.
