  • LOVE IT!
Size: 16 inch
Been playing on and off for 45 years and I gotta tell ya- i love these hi hats. I was a bit taken aback when I first played them as they sound nothing like my 14'' zildian A's. My A's were super bright and thick and just didn't have any soul or character. These 16'' K's had more of a "tinny" sound I quickly got used to and prefer. They are incredibly responsive for splashes, sizzles, chicks, clicks, and crashes and sound great when doing stick work. I tend to play with a lot of dynamics and these guys sound great at any level. Perfect for rock, funk, & jazz. Would not recommend for heavy metal as you will want something that cuts more. The Zildian 16'' K Lights have opened up the horizons on my hi-hat and I now have a new, better instrument which has re-invigorated my playing style & interest and made me a better drummer. Add a gold Meinl Jingle Hat Tamborine and you've got something Bonham woulda wanted. Buy them. Now! ... show more

  • Beautiful Hats
Size: 16 inch
Love these cymbals. They are dark, crisp, and very responsive. You can get a lot of different feels out of these hats. They are great for low volume settings and they open up nicely for rock or higher volume gigs. They have a great stick sound - I love the crisp "click" When playing fast patterns and rolls. One of the biggest highlights is their fat, sloshy semi - open sound. This is where they express the most versatility. The sound stays smooth and consistent across the dynamic range - the cymbals respond beautifully to your volume level. Finally, they have a musical and staccato "bark" . I was somewhat worried about this before I made the purchase, given their 16" size, but worry not. The sound is amazing. I'm so happy I went with them. If you're on the fence, purchase these hats. They're the most musical and versital hats I've played! ... show more

  • Unbelievable Sound
Size: 16 inch
Superb sound- 16" are my go-to hats. Perfect tone and stick definition- I play a lot of Jazz fusion. Light - sort of. Provides a good left foot workout during longer sessions- all around GREAT hats.

  • My Favorites of 5 pairs of hats
Size: 15 inch
SUper impressed with these. So let's get one thing out of the way right away-----cymbal and hi hat preferences are very contingent on what you are playing and what you like ---so it very subjective. But wow---these just have everything. I bought the 15's and they are my fave over the Sabian evolutions, K custom special dry (second favorite), Byzance benny greb sand hats, 14 inch custom dry fx (love these but limited ability to use). The are dark but not too dark, perfect sustain, great great great semi-open sound and sizzle. good stick definition. Just very very versatile. I would recommend these to anyone. Not sure why they call them "Light Hats"---the moniker doesn't fit their utility. But I love them If yo are on the fence....buy them. ... show more

  • Own Them - Love Them
I have played and still play 13 inch MasterSounds with my jazz kit. Love 'em....they're Zildjians. I was playing 14 inch mish mash willy nilly hi hats (top was Zildjian MasterSounds and bottom was some Paiste model) and they were o.k. with my rock set. I HAD to get a pair of these Zildjian K-Lights after reading so many positive things written by other happy owners. I went for the big ones and am very happy that I did. They allow for a surprising amount of control when their size is considered (they're as big as my sixteen inch crash cymbal after all). The sound I get when playing them at all stages of openness and closed - ness and in between is the best I've experienced with a set of hi hats. They aren't overly bright (some would even say they are dark) sounding but they do cut through the high volumes of Hendrix through which they are put night after night, with no problem whatsoever. Yet, I get the feeling that I could take them into a jazz gig and have no problems playing at the lower volumes associated with that type of music. Someone explained that they have the ability to be as loud as you might want hi hats to be but in order to achieve that kind of loudness, one must hit them harder as there is more area to affect in getting the volume desired. Therefore to play them at lower volumes, one must simply play with less force and the sound you want will ring from them. So while I recommend them definitely for higher volume rock type music, I go on record saying that they are much more versatile than I had originally thought. Overall, the only strike against them IMO is the price. I still say they are worth the investment but I can also say from experience, not without a little pain in the wallet area. That said, if you are looking for a new set of hi hats, don't make a decision on which ones until you've looked into these K-Lights. ... show more

  • Great Sounding Cymbals
Size: 15 inch
Love the tone quality of these cymbals...not tinny sounding like so many Paiste's. Then again, what else would you expect from the cymbal leader. My only reservation is that they are not super cutting but I would not not purchase as a result of that.
