The gullet is the exact size that is listed and the stirrups are fully adjustable. Their are buckles on each side of the girth because you are buckling the over girth into the under girth. When I read these reviews it appears maybe some people aren't sure how to use it or measure a horse for a saddle.. My horse is 15.2 hands and part draft. She needs a 7 inch gullet so this fits well. When I tighten the girth I tighten it to the 5th hole on each side so a slightly bigger horse can use it. I gave it 4 stars because the seat isn't comfortable for a long trail ride but all in all it's a nice saddle for my short backed horse. I only have 20 inches to work with. I ordered a 15 inch seat and it fits her great.i f you get an Aussie saddle pad it has an elastic band on each side to keep the girth ends with buckles off the flanks of the horse for comfort ... show more

    • Poor stirrup leathers design…the over girth could be longer too.

When we put the saddle together, we realized that the stirrup leathers (fenders) were way too long for my husband and I. My husband is 5’5” and I am 5’2”. You’d have to be at least 5’7” or more to use these. The way the leathers are made do not allow for adjustments for us. It would behoove the company to spend a few more dollars and get fully adjustable leathers. We now have to make a decision whether to send the saddle back or pay more money to buy the correct leathers. ... show more

I purchased this saddle for my son's halflinger who is built like a tank. If you are looking for a saddle for wide horses this is the saddle for you. Other reviews have said this is a wide saddle, this is very true. My son's previous saddle was a wintec english saddle with extra wide gullet plate. The one up from the red gullet plate. This saddle is as beautiful as the picture. The leathers are for someone over 5ft 7in. They are very long. We switched them out for english irons and leathers. The saddle I liked but the overgirth was way too small. The saddle is wide, I had to use a western pad (not a problem just info for those looking to buy). It's comfortable and exactly what I wanted. I needed something a little more secure for working with my youngsters. I didn't care for the stirrups (typical western style) so I used my English stirrups instead. Except for the overgirth (I replaced) it was exactly as described. I gave it 4 stars because of the overgirth. My horses are not large and it shouldn't have been an issue. ... show more
