  • Amazing How Easy and Good These Burgers are! And Try mixing the bean burger with ground beef!
Size: 46 OZ
I had a box of unknown brand bean mix on the shelf for must be 20 years. I almost pitched it, but decided to open the box. Contents looked good, smelled good, and directions only called for water, so nothing to lose to try to prepare!! Well, I was amazed. Having eaten those burgers, I purchased this can of black bean burger mix on Amazon. It is economical (about 40 cents a burger). It is also very versatile. I do recommend adding egg and bread crumbs to make a burger that stays together better, but otherwise these are perfect meals and perfect for emergency prep with long shelf life. And as far as emergency food, it is a plus that you only NEED water to have a decent nutritious meal. I also experimented with other uses. I recently mixed 1/2 cup of prepared bean mix with about 1/2 pound ground beef and egg and about 1/4 cup bread crumbs and made 4 HUGE burger patties - half bean and half beef. They were almost not distinguishable from a traditional quarter pounder. Could also mix in some chopped mushrooms. Totally delicious on a toasted bun with cheese and condiments. Half the calories and half the cost of a regular burger. I see great advantage to this mixture of bean and beef. Tonight I am using another 1/2 cup prepared bean mix plus 1/2 pound ground beef to make an Italian noodle casserole calling for browned ground beef crumbles, pepper, onion, mushroom, macaroni and tomato soup with cheese melted on top. Will see how the bean/beef mix performs in a casserole prep. I will continue to experiment with new uses for this. Very tasty, easy to use, economical. I will be buying this again for sure and highly recommend. ... show more

  • Dee-licious as sliders or balls~ As good as homemade
Size: 46 OZ
10.6.25~ Been "thinking" about trying this bean burger mix forever. But you know.. powdered food (how good can it be?) Oh so good that after ordering the pouch (finally) jumped in with both feet on the tin. I'd love to offer you some great tips but really Auguson has done it all for us. I take a pile of this great dehydrated veg & bean mix (more like onion soup than pancake mix)~ Add water and stir til it looks about the texture I'd want a burger, then pan fry no oil. Slider-sized burgers or falafel balls are best. Large burgers need a lid before flip to cook middle. The mix turns kind of reddish like real burgers or Beyond patties. The texture and plop of the patty is like a real burger. The crispy bottom is like a real burger. As someone whose been plant-based for a while it's nice to have options. This mix is so easy~I can be starving searching for food one minute~ and have a hot meal the next. So tasty it's as good my homemade ones without the chopping and mashing prep. Now I did pour the tin into a gallon ziploc, which it almost filled up. The lid is not airtight and the tin takes up a lot of limited cabinet space. Plus you can see all the ready to be devoured goodness. Click away with confidence my friends. These are deee-licious with pickles mayo and piles of onion on a bun. Or with a dollop of greek yogurt & avocado salsa over rice. Cheers & enjoy! ... show more

  • Full of Flavor
Size: 46 OZ
I really didn't think I'd like this. But it is actually really good and full of flavor. The sodium is a little high, but I just follow it up with tons of water. If you mix it well, follow the instructions and let it rest for 15 minutes BEFORE cooking, the burgers will come out great. I added some cooked Spinach and Onions to the mix before cooking it. One persons review said they added a fried egg over top. I did the same thing and added some Haitian Pikliz on top...... DELICIOUS. For the kiddos, I just added Provolone Cheese and a little Ranch Dressing, placed the patties over a salad, and they loved it. The Hubster wanted his with Tuna Salad and cucumber slices.. It really is great for a quick meal at lunch time. I say try it. In NYC a Bean Burger is $12. You can make over 35. burgers from this can. ... show more

  • Wouldn’t eat it daily but great on SHTF scenario
Size: 46 OZ
I decided this was a good price for daily usage so I got one can to try and another for storage. Certain members in the family are vegetarian so we need something that can please both crowds. We ended up using it sooner when a hurricane hit. On the first day we made this on a chafing dish with alcohol burners since the camp stove broke (our bad) so it was THAT easy to make. It was nice to have something filling and hot in our bellies specially with the next few days of hard work ahead us after the damage was done. The flavor is ok but it isn’t something that we would want to repeat eating daily, take this into consideration given the size of the can (it will last a whole year after opened and not looking forward to it). Thankfully our pantry allowed us to make other things. I’ve also tried adding more water and making it as sort of refried beans for burritos it was also good but we dont dream about it either. It definitely beats a lot of canned foods and even most MRIs we’ve tried in previous disasters. I saw others concerned about the salt level but I personally found that it was ok specially after cooked or with extra hydration for burritos. It certainly has spices but there’s no heat which was a nice surprise to us. You can always add hot sauce or peppers if you’re heat inclined. I also saw some people comment the mix came out too loose to make into patties first add a few less drops of water and second let the mix rest before forming and cooking it came out great that way for us. ... show more

  • Affordable and tasty. Simple ingredients.
Size: 46 OZ
Pretty tasty, affordable, and not too high in sodium. I don't always make black bean burgers. Sometimes I break it up into a crumble and make it into a black bean taco. Good fiber and protein, great to counter a day of eating some unhealthy foods. I keep mine in an air tight container in the fridge to preserve it for a while. SO MANY SERVINGS in a container. ... show more

  • Deliciouse and good value
Size: 46 OZ
Great bargain for the price. Easy to make and tasty to eat. Convenient to have on hand. I also got the vegetable medley, and add a bit of that and some grated cheese to the mix before cooking, just to kick the flavor it up a notch how I like it. Highly recommend.
