The GEL-NIMBUS 23 Knit running shoe continues to offer excellent comfort and long-run impact absorption. Its improved stability provides a more balanced stride that's followed by smoother transitions. Constructed with comfort and breathability in mind, the upper features a soft knit design for long runs. Engineered eyelet shaping helps the upper move more naturally with the foot, while a stretchy midfoot panel appropriately hugs the foot to generate better flexibility. Additionally, the shoe's upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. Providing the runner with excellent shock absorption and softness, the GEL-NIMBUS 23 Knit delivers more compression in the heel thanks to its softer GEL technology cushioning unit and contoured design lines. Also, a gender-specific TRUSSTIC device provides an articulated amount of support in the right direction for men and women to help generate a smooth transition. Under the toe, the inclusion of gender-specific pillars help cushion the body and help runners experience a softer feel. Simultaneously, the OrthoLite X-55 sockliner equips runners with a forgiving, yet responsive stride. The components of the GEL-NIMBUS 23 Knit shoe help increase the softness without forgoing the integrity of the shoe's ride. Our 23rd version of the GEL-NIMBUS continues to make advancements within the lineage by offering improved support and comfort for distance runners.

First, I wear a medium width running shoe, have flat arches, and narrow heels, so my comments might not apply to other types of feet. I wanted to like this shoe. It was very good looking, lightweight, true to size, and well made. However, two things made me return it. One was the difficulty getting in and out of the shoe because it had a tight sleeve instead of a tongue. I wouldn't have been able to put my foot in without a shoehorn. This could be a good thing for some, but for me, it made the shoe too unforgiving. It seemed too tight on top of my foot and did not allow for any foot swelling. The second reason was that the high heel pad on the shoe hit my achilles with every step and made my achilles sore to the touch. The shoe is a good value and a very nice shoe, if it fits your foot.     • Comfy shoes--easier to put on, if you stretch the opening

I really like these shoes, once they are on! But, the way they are constructed makes them hard to get your feet into. I always use a shoehorn to help with the process. It takes more time to get these on, so I don't wear them as much as I had hoped to. It might be easier if these had the "bungee" type of shoelaces, which stretch easily and are easier to get on and off. UPDATE: I just tried stretching the opening when I put these on, and it worked just fine! I think I will try using bungee shoe laces with these and see how that works. I was worried about the heel height in back causing blisters. So far that has not happened. I do wear socks with the added material in the back of the foot. I can now say these are super comfortable, giving an added bounce to the step! I love these for running around every day, but might clean the soles off and use them on my treadmill only. ... show more

These are great in terms of sole/ cushioning as you expect from ASICS but the design of the top of the shoe (sock fit maybe?) is very uncomfortable. I can only use these if I have a certain pair/ style of socks available otherwise they are too painful

I REALLY wanted to like this shoe, because the sole is a DREAM. It is a very comfortable shoe to stand and walk in. If you are on your feet all day, this is a great shoe. My schedule is odd where I’m active in the morning, sit at a desk for 8 hours and then active again in the evening. I have high arches and by hour 5 of sitting, the top of my foot was ACHING. There is no shoe tongue but instead there is a continuation of the side stretchy material. No matter how I rearranged the shoelaces, I could not relieve the pressure placed on the top of my foot by the stretchy material. I have high arches and purchased these running shoes after reading an article suggesting them. They are slip in, with ties. The tops were very tight, so if you have high arches, the tops are hurt the top of your feet. These are super cushiony and gave me an extra inch and a half of height. I would have loved to keep these as the soles are very comfortable, but the tops were painful after wearing them for about 15 minutes around the house. ... show more

This version has an elasticized collar that allows for quick slip-on if I need to walk the dog. Originally bought for long work shifts with walking, but these really don't have the support for that.
