  • These shoes were made for me!
Size: 9 Color: Mako Blue/Barely Rose
My feet are narrow at the heel and a wide at the toe. My big toe is also a bit long. I have always had a problem getting good fitting shoes because if they fit at the heel, they are too short and my big toe hits, plus the toe box is too tight. I end up using a she stretcher to stretch out the toe area, which helps some but not that much. I also have to use an arch support in all my shoes, plus I am an over pronator that needs a stability shoe. These shoes actually fit me perfectly in my usual size. I do not need a shoe stretcher or any added arch support and they have wiggle room at the toe. Plus they have so much cushion they are like walking on air. They were on sale so I bought a second pair in a different color!! ... show more

  • My Right Foot Hates This Shoe
Before I start this review, I should mention that I have two completely different feet and they are seldom in agreement about shoes. I have to search for shoes that make both feet happy. I have always had higher arches, but they have been flattening over the years. Now, one has a higher arch than the other one and is a half-size shorter. It is also slightly wider at the ball. That foot likes to supinate. The arch fell more in the other foot, which is now slightly longer. That one is fairly neutral. I have sensitive feet and both are very picky about shoes. I like a roomy toe box and a narrower heel. These Gel-Kayano shoes certainly satisfy that criteria. However, my right foot hates this shoe due to the support features. This is a beautiful shoe, but it is supportive to the point of being a bit oppressive. There is too much padding around the cuff at the heel, which is a bit uncomfortable and rubs a bit on the heel of the shorter foot. There is great deal of cushioning in the sole and heel, which is good for "supinators", but it is a big sacrifice in responsiveness. The outside of my supinating right foot just mushes right into the lateral part of the shoe, rather than pushing off. I need a supportive shoe for my right foot, but it feels like this shoe is doing the opposite of what I need it to do. It seems to be exaggerating the supination. My left foot, which is flatter and more neutral, is OK with this shoe. It finds it comfortable. Of course, I buy shoes to fit the longer foot, so the shoe does fit the left foot better. That may also be why it isn't bothered by the excessive padding around the cuff at the heel. Unfortunately, it slides and rubs on my shorter, problemed, supinating right foot. My guess is that the shoe has to be a perfect fit or the padded heel is going to be a problem for some. I do find that the shoe is true to sizing. I measure both the width and length of my feet before ordering online and check with the manufacturer for sizing. These fit exactly as expected. They are a bit more snug at the arch and the heel for support, but the toe box is ample for me. My feet are pretty standard for width and I don't find this shoe to run narrow, like many claim the Asics brand to do. I think this shoe would be great for pronators who want superb cushioning, but I wouldn't recommend it for supinators. The cushioning is certainly ample for supinators, but the support seems to be geared more for pronation. It seems to actually push my feet in that direction. I did try the Asics Gel-Cumulus 23, which was a better fit for my supinating right foot. It puts it in the correct alignment without putting all kinds of unnecessary pressure on the foot. It still has more padding at the cuff of the heel and more cushioning in the sole than I would like, but that is more of a personal preference. I tend to prefer more responsiveness over cushioning. I also tried the Asics Gel-Venture 7 to help my supinating right foot, which doesn't have nearly as much cushioning and padding, but the shoe is supportive and responsive. Both of my feet love that shoe, as well as the price tag. Lastly, I also tried the Brooks Adrenaline GTS, which is a fine shoe for cushioning, but it doesn't seem to be made as well as the the Asics brand shoes or provide as much support. It has some degree of side rail support, but the material above the sole doesn't provide much form or shape. It is pretty soft and allows the foot to slide around. It is, however, a comfortable shoe for everyday wearing. I just wouldn't run in them. All four pairs of these shoes were purchased and compared for their comfort and ability to help my right, supinating foot without irritating my left foot. While I am on the fence about the Brooks shoes, I'm keeping the latter two pairs of Asics shoes and returning the Gel-Kayano 28s. I just don't feel the Gel-Kayano 28s are a good fit for supination. ... show more

  • Good shoes for walking
Size: 8.5 Color: Black/White
My physical therapist recommended the Gel Kayano shoes years ago because I have lots of leg and foot issues, yet want to remain active. I've tried other shoes but keep coming back to these. I wear them primarily for walking but do some running in them, and they are good for whatever I put them through. If you happen to be between shoe sizes, you'll probably want to get the bigger size (e.g., if you're 6.5-7, get the 7). ... show more

  • Great Shoe but ASICS Gel Kayano 28 shoe size mislabeled on tongue Ordered an 8.5 got a 10.
I have been ordering my Gel Kayano's from Amazon for years. First problem I've had. I order two pair at a time. This order they arrived separately from the second pair. It was no where near a size 8.5 and was mismarked on the tongue. It was more like a 10. Second pair I ordered arrive yesterday and were perfect. I have sent the first pair back and asked for a replacement. Let's see if they are the correct size. ... show more

  • So far good
Size: 7.5 Color: Barely Rose/White
I've only used them to walk/work in. They are purchased for running but haven't done so yet. They are tighter than what a 7.5 usually is but the Cushion makes up for that. I did not have foot fatigue after work. I'll know more the longer I work in them.

  • Almost perfect
Size: 5 Color: Mako Blue/Barely Rose
Love the color design on the shoes. I wear a size 4 so I ordered the size 5 since that was the smallest they offer expecting it to feel a little big on my feet tho sadly to my surprise it was to tight on my feet. The length was perfect but the width was to small which made my feet hurt. I am reordering it in the same size but the wide version. Though I wish they had the same color option for the 5 wide as they do the 5. The feeling felt amazing which is why I am reordering it. ... show more

  • Support
Size: 6.5 Color: Piedmont Grey/Deep Plum
These are the only shoes I walk or run in. I have no arch and I was fitted with these by an orthopedic tech specialist in footwear. First had custom orthotics in them and now graduated to just the support of the shoe. I liked the earlier iterations better but these work great.

  • Comfortable
Size: 7 Color: Black/White
I was surprised how much I like these. I have a high arch in my foot. I still need custom inserts but these are really cushioned and great for long walks. I gave 4 stars because the stability isn't perfect. I have ankle tendonitis so it's hard to find a perfectly stable shoe. Still, if you have tendonitis but need to walk a lot, these are great. ... show more
