I like these shoes because of the wide widths they come in. The new version of these are NOT as wide as my older ones. I can see the difference of the width before even putting them on. I usually go up a size due to wearing shoe inserts and now these bearly fit with the inserts; whereas, I had a little extra room that allowed my foot to swell after wearing long periods of time. I chose the Gel-Contend 7 because I liked the available colors and price point after I wore my Gel-Venture 7's out after about 2 years of heavy/daily use. I've been wearing this pair for about 6 1/2 months (not heavy/daily use) and they already will need to be replaced as they are coming apart at the seams above my big toe. After reading through some reviews, I see that it appears to be a common problem with this shoe, regardless of color. I'm very disappointed and wish I'd chosen a different pair of sneakers. I have been buying me the mens version of this shoe for years. The quality vs price is a good balance, feels comfortable and my daughter loves the color of the shoe. She is getting in shape for BMT, so she needed a good shoe that she can wear but also affordable to purchase again in a few months.

I run 2 or more miles a day. 2-4 times/week. My last running shoes began to hurt my ankles some months ago. i realized i was under-pronate and only wear on outer side of shoe. i needed a shoe that helps with this under pronation. i read this shoe helps with this. First the shoe is a beautiful shoe. I saw many reviews stating to order 1/2 size bigger which i did. BUT I really didn't need to as they would have fit my 8.5 size feet perfectly. The upper edges of the shoe are a little more rigid than my previous running shoes but I think this helps to stabilize and cause my ankle to run more of a neutral way. (as I was running on the outside of my foot due to previous shoes.) First run was 4.5 miles and it went well. I found that my ankles already have less pain. :) Super glad to get back to ASICS. I tried Saucony which were ok but also led me to becoming an under-pronator. :( I realize each persons running style, gait etc is unique and therefore my review is personal my own running experience. This shoe was good for a basic run. Not sure about very long distance running. It would also be a great shoe for work. And perhaps a gel insert if on feet all day. A great shoe. Arrived early. I’ve been running with ASICS for the past 5-6 years and I love it. Keep going back to it. I run 6-10 miles in a week and these hold up great. I bought these to work events in. We walk anywhere from 10-20k+ steps per event and these shoes helped my feet tremendously. They are comfortable and provide great support. If you like a little extra room then size up 1/2 size.

These shoes are comfortable. I got the 7.5 wide ones. I had to undo the laces and restring them as they were a little snug. After a few days of wearing them they fit nice. They are comfortable too.
