I am buying these Gel-Kayano's about 10 years after the last one. I am not disappointed. During my marathon running years I ran 23 marathons, and twenty 50km runs (31 miles), in these shoes and trained for more than 10,000 miles of running. After trying several brands, I settled on these, luckily fairly early in my running days. For amateurs, such as myself, I believe this is the best running shoe ever made. I tried at least a half dozen other brands and types, most of them, I did not use for more than a couple of hundred miles, because they caused "this or that" foot problems. I have good legs and feet for running; no pronation, arch, or asymmetry issues, which can cause some shoes to not work for you. I don't run anymore, and haven't run for 10 years, because of back problems and have been doing endurance bicycling. I have now started walking for fitness, especially during rainy days when biking is not fun. To get myself going I purchased these Kayanos and they are just as good as the last set. I also liked Amazon's "try before you buy" deal, because without that, I would not risk getting shoes that may not fit or have other problems. Since I am familiar with these shoes, I got the right size the first time. You do need to size up one size on these, at least in my experience. As to their performance in my experience, I still have a lot of my used-up shoes, which I have been using for everyday walking, shopping etc. I used to use them for 450-500 miles of running, which is on the high side, but I was not a very fast runner, and not capable of winning (I kept track of all running data in a spreadsheet including shoe mileages). I also ran one rain-soaked trail ultra-marathon in these, but did not finish (DNF!). I didn't do much trail running, and these shoes are not good for it. They got soaked and heavy and contributed to the quitting. A lot of elite runners didn't like these because they are heavier and can be slower than some shoes might be. Durability is not a concern for these runners. Their best shoe would be a light one that lasts them a hundred miles (time to break-in before the marathon, and one marathon). So, there you have it. I hope that your experience will be as good as mine. If not, you can always buy another brand next time. Running shoes don't last long, especially if you run in them.

These shoes are great. I have had problems fitting shoes to my feet my entire life. These shoes fit my foot so well, it's almost like they were custom made for me. I have tendonitis which causes flat feet and knee problems. Since wearing these all day in the house my knees and tendons feel better. These are much better than orthopedic inserts. The whole shoe is designed to put the feet in proper alignment and probably helps top prevent furthyer knee and flat foot problems. Whoever designed these knew what they were doing, my guess would be a foot doctor. And they are super light, and very comfortable. You can't beat these for any price.

Can't beat Asics Gel-Kayano's for comfort and support. I've worn them almost daily for 15 years. I'm not a runner...just want a very comfortable shoe for my aging feet. I replace them every 6 months no matter what the outside looks like to maintain best arch support. I usually buy the model just expired and replaced to get the best price. I wear an 8.5 M in a dress shoe. Best to add a size in the Gel-Kayano's, so 9.5 M for me. Once you find the right fit, just replace as needed. They are reliably sized from model to model number.

Very comfortable and look great. This is my first pair of shoes from ASICS ever and I am enjoying them. Only purchased Nike most of my life but Nike hit strike 3 with me so moving on for good. Glad I did because these are so soft. Will buy again.

How many times have I read this in reviews: "I've used this product for years, and the quality continues to get less and less"? Well, that's my thought for this product. And I HAVE been wearing this shoe for many years, and each time I order it, it's even more cheaply made. Sigh. I am certainly willing to PAY MORE for a product that is made well and domestically, if that's what it takes. Really cheaply-made shoe. SO disappointed.

I have flat feet and overpronation. these shoes are excellent for these conditions. and they are the most comfortable I have ever worn. I no longer buy brooks and have 4 pair of gel kayano's. the color selections are endless and the quality is first class

A very good shoe, rare combination of support and comfort. Lightweight. The only downside - not for rainy weather, but that's kind of obvious. Fit is precise, you can buy your normal size.

I walk 4-6 miles every day on asphalt bike paths. I need a well cushioned shoe. These are perfect. I’ve tried other brands, but these are by far the best. I get a new pair every 4 months. I just hope they keep making these for years to come.
